Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, repair and complete preventative maintenance on Ground Service Equipment (both motorized and non-motorized)
Work will include diagnostic testing and repair of gas engines, transmissions, suspension and brake systems
Troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines, heavy industrial equipment, including large aircraft air conditioners, air start and ground electrical power units
Ground Service Equipment Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority
Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract
New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment
There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues which are set by the Local Lodge
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
24 months of experience with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of gas and diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and motorized equipment
Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
Must possess a valid state issued driver's license
Ability to work any shift assigned (nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed) within 24/7 operation
Ability to climb and work from ladders, and/or walk for extended periods

About The Role
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Mechanical & Controls Technician, capable of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, minor programming, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and automated control systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Core Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Controls & Electrical Duties: Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, motor controllers, variable frequency drives (VFD), servo systems, and motor starters. Diagnose PLC alarms and repair or replace sensors, actuators, input/output modules and other control devices as required.
Vendor Coordination: Point of contact with vendors for PLC hardware/software issues or upgrades, and general mechanical and electrical equipment repair.
Mechanical Duties: Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, production machinery, and related equipment. Perform diagnostic tests, identify faults, and implement repairs or part replacements. Ensure preventive maintenance procedures are followed to minimize downtime.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed records of maintenance, diagnostics, calibrations, and system modifications. Prepare technical reports, schematics, and manuals. Ensure all work adheres to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Training and Support: Providing technical expertise and hands on training and development for operators and maintenance techs on an ongoing basis.
Proactive Engagement: Perform area walkthroughs and inspections of the facility and equipment to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Comply with Health & Safety Policies: Follows and ensures health and safety policies are always the first task.
Collaboration: Effectively collaborate with other departments and vendors to develop, plan, and implement projects to improve company efficiency, safety, and overall throughput.
Skills & Experience Required
5+ years of Industrial Control Systems Maintenance required, including hands-on experience with motor controls, VFDs, servos, DeviceNet, and PLC troubleshooting.
5+ years of Mechanical Maintenance, including troubleshooting, from a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics. Proficient with diagnostic tools. Strong troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
Knowledge of automation software and HMIs a plus.
Experience with Ladder logic programming a plus.
Experience reporting daily metrics in a CMM.

About the Role
Position involves all aspects of the assembly processes including putting up inventory stock, parts pulling, assembling, repair/restock/warranty evaluations, testing and service, wash/prep/paint, packing, shipping /receiving and general clean up. The main focus of the position at this time is in the Returned Goods Authorization Department.
Pay Range $21 - $30 (hour)
Hand assembly of gear motors, reducers, and adjustable drives, maintain parts stock between assembly lines, putting up inventory stock, parts pulling, repair/restock/warranty evaluations, testing and service, wash/prep/paint, packing, shipping/receiving and general clean up.
Must read and understand supporting documentation for the work area, use calipers, depth & paint millage gauges, and visually inspect all work and rework as necessary.
Assess each situation and do not perform any tasks which s/he feels is unsafe, on which s/he has not received training, or engage in any unsafe work practices. Report any unsafe condition to his/her manager.
May be required to travel on Company business to any required destination domestically as well as overseas. May be required to stay overnight for extended periods of time, obtain lodging, and occasionally conduct business in the evenings, weekends, and holidays and outside of normal business hours. Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and driving record satisfactory to SEW-EURODRIVE or otherwise be able to transport yourself to and from various locations, including customer facilities, to engage in diverse business activities.
Must comply with all current ISO Quality and Work Instructions for job, all Company Safety rules, and all other Company rules, policies and procedures.
