About the Role
As Medical Director, you will provide strategic leadership and clinical oversight for our Acute Rehabilitation Center. You'll have dedicated administrative support time in addition to your clinical responsibilities, and a strong platform to engage in academic scholarship and service leadership.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an ACGME-accredited PM&R residency
Board-certified or board-eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R)
Minimum two years of inpatient rehabilitation experience or training
Minnesota medical license or eligibility
Ability to obtain DEA certification (Minnesota)
Eligibility for credentialing and privileging
Strong interpersonal and teaching skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior leadership in an inpatient rehabilitation facility
Familiarity with CMS guidelines and regulatory standards
Experience with CARF and Joint Commission accreditation
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Program Oversight: Provide clinical leadership and administrative direction to the inpatient rehabilitation team. Ensure compliance with legal and accreditation standards while promoting excellence in care delivery. Commit a minimum of 20 hours per week to direct patient care at the ARC, with additional protected administrative time dedicated to support leadership duties, program development, and quality improvement efforts.
Quality & Performance Initiatives: Develop and track clinical metrics, drive quality improvement, and implement evidence-based practices to elevate patient outcomes.
Hospital & Community Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison across departments, facilitate care coordination, and support hospital operational strategies.
Advocacy & Representation: Represent the ARC in institutional meetings, regulatory reviews, and strategic planning efforts.
Patient Care & Coverage: Deliver expert rehabilitation care, participate in call pool, and provide cross-coverage as needed.
Education & Mentorship: Engage in the training and professional development of medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.
Relationship Building: Cultivate partnerships with referring clinicians and community stakeholders to strengthen patient transitions and enhance the continuum of care.

Pay and Benefits
This full-time (100%) faculty position is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians and includes two salary components. Total compensation is competitive, with a salary range of $273,00 to $300,000. An additional augmentation is also associated with this position. Compensation is based on AAMC benchmarks based on academic rank and is proportionate to academic and clinical duties.

The Associate Director will lead a DHM Research and Scholarship Committee which will report to the DHM Executive Council and collaborate closely with Departmental, Medical School, and University research leaders to further research and scholarship efforts, increase the amount of institutional and extramural funding, encourage scholarly output, and develop collaborative working groups in collaboration with other faculty and national collaborative groups. This Associate Director will also work with the Division Director and other stakeholders in the recruitment and retention of research-focused faculty in the Division while also continuing their own program of research. The candidate will also have a commitment to fostering scholarship across multiple domains, including quality improvement, clinical research, and educational scholarship. clinical/QI/educational scholarship; advancement within the institution will depend on demonstration of clinical and scholarly achievement.

What you will do as an EEG Technologist - Trainee:
Complete coursework quizzes and finals according to school schedule
Track and complete 500 clinical hours
Taking EEG boards within a year of graduating school
Prepares patients and equipment for EEG procedure
Operate equipment to record electrical activity of the brain during the procedure
Monitors patient respiration, heart, and brain activity during procedure
Records evoked responses from patient
Prepare readings for interpretation by a Physician, including annotating and identification of EEG activity
Performs standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings and evoked potentials in a manner consistent with the standards of care, objectives, and procedures of the EEG Laboratory and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

The University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) is a 1,932 licensed bed facility, Level III Trauma Center, Stroke Center and Level I Cardiac Center. Between our two adult emergency departments, approximately 50,000 patients are seen with close to 14,000 admissions annually. In our pediatric emergency department approximately 23,000 patients are seen annually accounting for 3,000 admissions.
Our PAs and NPs serve as integral members of a multidisciplinary team providing excellence in emergency medical care. In addition, the PA/NP coordinates care with consultant services, recommends follow-up care, facilitates referral to various internal and external facilities and takes part in multidisciplinary continuous quality improvement.
Our UMMC Adult Emergency Medicine provider group includes about 40 physicians and a growing number of PAs/NPs. Patients are seen in both the West and East Bank Emergency Departments, which house over 50 beds. Our group is focused on providing high-quality patient care and expanding the academic focus of the University of Minnesota Medical Center. We work with several learners at various stages in their medical education.
In this role, you will:
Evaluate patients and perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations
Compile patient medical data, including health history
Order diagnostic tests, like imaging, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests, and interpret test results
Perform therapeutic procedures, like suturing, splinting, wound care, nerve blocks and other procedures appropriate for an emergency department setting
Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and help in provision of continuity of care
Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, and medical devices
Instruct and counsel patients on compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens
Work with a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (Epic) to create and maintain patient records
Care for and communicate with patients, family members, co-workers, and other medical professionals
Exhibit professionalism that is the expression of positive values and ideals as care is delivered and maintain commitment to ethical principles pertaining to provision or withholding of clinical care, confidentiality of patient information, informed consent, and business practices

We're looking for a PA or NP who is:
Preferred 2-3 years Emergency Medicine experience as a provider

Holds current PA license through the MN Board of Medical Practice or current RN & NP license by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
Holds active DEA license or ability to obtain
Certified through the NCCPA or through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
Certified in BLS (required), ACLS (required), and preferably ATLS
Able to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks
Adept with interpersonal and communication skills that result in effective information exchange with patients, patients' families, physicians, professional associates, and other individuals within the system
Preferred candidate has Emergency Department experience with three or more years of work as a PA/NP in a tertiary, high-volume hospital emergency department in which you routinely performed typical emergency procedures. The Patient Representative promotes UMPhysicians' philosophy of patient centered care to meet the needs of all visitors and guests by maintaining a welcoming, friendly profile in the clinic and is responsible for the professional and efficient operation of both reception check-in and checkout procedures. The individual in this role must have exceptional time management and prioritization abilities, exemplary customer service skills, and excellent organization and communication capabilities.
What you will do as a Patient Representative:
Assists with phones and schedules future appointments and/or procedures.
Welcomes visitors, provides non-clinical information, collects co-pays, and enters/verifies health insurance information at check-in
Oversees the clinic lobby and patient waiting area and ensures it is clean, orderly and inviting
Arranges accommodation and/or interpreter services as need needed for the patient visits
Resolves non-clinical patient customer service issues
Assists with coordinating provider schedules and appointments
Maximize efficiencies of clinic schedules and to reduce patient waiting times and enhance customer experience
Requests/obtains/sends medical records and diagnostic test results from patient visits to other providers as requested
What you will need:
Successful completion of Patient Representative training program and OJT within 5 weeks of hire.
Knowledge of online scheduling and experience with EMR systems
Keyboarding skills of 35 wpm.
Proven experience in customer service

This position may be required to float to other departments at the discretion of the manager based on clinic needs.
Hours: 40 hours/week 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday with some flexibility requested based on business needs.
