Waste Connections Eastern Region has an immediate opening for a Regional Maintenance Specialist to support the Maintenance Teams. The incumbent will be located at our Region Office and will report to the Regional Maintenance Manager.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and optimal functionality of facilities across the assigned region. The successful candidate will assume a leading role supporting maintenance and asset management efforts across our facilities and oversee diverse maintenance programs, manage acquisitions, and facilitate effective communication between teams and systems. The position combines technical expertise with a strong understanding of maintenance processes, safety protocols, and efficient resource utilization. Job Summary:
Ensure adherence to Waste Connections' safety standards from all sites.
Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
Foster collaboration between and among various site personnel across all levels.
Mentor and train Maintenance Managers and Mechanics throughout the Region.
Conduct audits and site visits at hauling maintenance facilities.
Identify opportunities with Maintenance Managers on process improvements.
Conduct training sessions for maintenance personnel on best practices, safety protocols, and the latest technologies.
Stay informed about industry trends and advancements, and integrate new knowledge into training programs.
Track productivity and service metrics and seek opportunities for overall improvement by route.
Develop and distribute reporting of KPI's to region leadership team.
Facilitate the rollout of new software's each site.
Assist in monthly financial projections and annual budget formulation;
Assist in regional budget review, to include creating reports, tracking budget changes, etc.
Communicate regularly with district, division, region and corporate personnel;
Have regular meetings with the District Team Leaders (DTLs) to communicate maintenance related initiatives and updates;
Create and analyze maintenance metrics that will maximize reliability of equipment and control variable cost;
Manage third-party relationships, including contract reviews with vendor, suppliers, and service level agreements with outside dealerships;
Proactively identify trends and issues occurring in the Region and provide recommendations.
Provide project management for events, summits, and meetings for field leaders.
Booking travel, including air, hotel, rental car for Maintenance Team.
Instill company culture and accountability with those they support and lead.
Requirements:
5 years of experience as a Maintenance Manager at a large hauling district.
10 years of leadership experience in a large maintenance shop.
In-depth experience in fleet maintenance and repairs of refuse trucks and equipment.
Outstanding teambuilding and communication skills.
Ability to plan, budget, schedule, and supervise multiple projects from concept to completion.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations, maintenance best practice, and industry standards.
Working knowledge of routing software with solid analytical skills to optimize routes and productivity.
Experience and understanding of budget preparation and financial accountability to manage P&L.
Well-developed influencing and presentation skills.
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Valid drivers license for travel and access to own vehicle.
CDL class B with Air endorsement will be considered an asset.
Ability to travel (up to 75%) to different districts/regions will be required.

**Position Purpose:**

+ Perform general maintenance and repair to facilities, buildings and grounds.

+ Locate, maintain, and set up temporary field offices upon request; regrade roads and areas around manholes and other District facilities.

Essential Functions:

Assist in repairs and maintenance activities of meters, meter boxes, service lines, mains, wells, pump stations, and fences
Assist flushing and performing maintenance on all necessary functions of mains; operate various hand and power tools in the completion of these activities
Assist in setting, replacing, and/or removing 1 ½” to 2” size meters.
Under direction conduct all water discharges with Company's National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) policy including, but not limited to, implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs), monitoring and recording all required data, and completing necessary paperwork related to all discharge events
Prepare and operate service truck(s) daily, the loading of needed materials and equipment, remove and dispose of debris, and clean equipment and truck as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Summary: Maintenance and improvement of cooperative building and grounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform all maintenance of the headquarters lawn and building landscape including mowing, trimming, spraying, fertilizing, planting, weeding, and raking, under the direction of the Facilities Manager
Mow and spray the pole yard and keep it free of debris.
Keep sidewalks and steps outside of building clear of snow, ice, and other hazards. Assist with snow removal and salting of parking lot. Assist the snow removal/salting contractor with snow removal and salting of the parking lot.
Check lighting in building periodically and replace bulbs, tubes, and ballasts when necessary.
Maintain walls and ceilings, including patching, painting, and cleaning. Prepare and paint walls and woodwork or perform other types of refinish.
Install and repair flooring and carpeting.
Build, repair, and install shelving, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, building framework, and trim.
Install and repair windows and doors.
Assist as directed with building and warehouse renovation projects, upgrades, and major repairs.
Assist as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, such as plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and electrical. Keep all restroom and kitchen facilities in working order.
Perform minor repairs to various machinery, equipment, and tools but excluding heavy equipment such as vehicles, trailers and backhoe.
Work in conjunction with the Stock Clerk to keep the garage floor neat and clean.
Review inventory of janitorial supplies periodically, and order needed supplies.
Assist Administrative Secretary and other management in preparation and setup for, as well as clean up after, various meetings that take place within the building, such as the monthly Board of Directors meeting, and employee and safety meetings. This also applies to the cooperative Annual Meeting which takes place off-site.
Run errands as requested.
Respond to emergency custodial requests as required.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Pay Range: Pay starts at $20.56 with an increase to $22.75 after 6 months and an increase to $26.45 after 12 months.
