(Dependent on experience) Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION The position will be within the Mobile Turbine/Rotating Department and is responsible for performing all general mechanical maintenance on power plant equipment. The Mobile Turbine/Rotating team supports a culture of continuous improvement by participating in training, reinforcing standards, reporting, and mitigating unsafe or undesirable conditions, and utilizing the corrective action program. This position regularly requires 80% travel. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Perform maintenance and repair work on plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, fans, turbines, bearings, boilers, pipe systems, valves and limit torque operators. (disassembly, part repair or replacement, assembly) using sound technical decisions regarding maintenance on complex mechanical equipment Demonstrates strong maintenance skill on steam or gas turbines, turbine valves, reactor feed pump turbines (RFPT), terry turbines, various pumps, balance of plan (BOP) equipment in a safe and reliable manor using the correct tools, equipment such as rigging, fork trucks and cranes Perform assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner at the direction of Maintenance Management. Ability to work on cross-functional teams on major projects while adhering to the conduct of maintenance and established maintenance standards and practices Perform alignment on Rotating equipment. Perform fitting and welding tasks when qualified. Execute work package when assigned to the level of training received. Use, review and recommend revisions to procedures, prints, technical manuals and other documents as required to the level of training received. Provide technical support to plant operations, maintenance staff and engineering to the level of training received. Interpret and understand power plant prints. Perform verification checks on maintenance items covered in maintenance technician training. ***This role can be filled at Associate, Mid-level or Senior level. Please see minimum qualifications list below for each level*** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Level I Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics OR HS Diploma with minimum of 12 months of trade or technical experience in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experience OR Relevant Vocational Technical High School diploma with 6 months of Shop Experience at Fort Smallwood Successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the MASS test Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing and walking long distances. Exposed to heat with reduced stay times, dust, smoke, dirt, high noise areas, confined and cramped work areas, and a nuclear power plant environment including Radiation Dose Exposure. The Position This position is responsible for the assembly, troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical, electrical, electronic assemblies and systems. Maintain proper preventative maintenance schedules and documentation for all shop equipment. Support building system maintenance such as machine shop, compressors, tooling, and generators, lighting, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems. Upgrade, repair, replace machinery parts and components as needed to maintain equipment. Oversee the machinery to make sure it is optimal working condition. Support overall company electrical maintenance requirements for machinery and facility upkeep. Maintain electrical support for equipment in the machine shop. Assist mechanical assembly with troubleshooting of equipment breakdown and repair. Maintain electrical support of the building, ensuring all safety codes are complied with. Maintain the building wiring inspection. Maintain all electrical safety records as required by OSHA. Works alone on all types of maintenance repair, electrical repair, and installation. Operates machine shop equipment making repair parts. Uses electrical instruments to diagnose electrical problems. Makes various repairs to shop equipment and does general and finish carpentry. Works with gas welding and cutting torches; electric welding on a variety of work. Maintains and repairs water, oil, steam, air, and gas lines; fire and water pumping system; fork truck maintenance; and all types of electrical work. Maintains required housekeeping of work area and observes all safety rules. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned. Tools & materials used: Uses sledgehammers, drills, crowbars, block and tackle, chain falls, drill presses, jack saws, wrenches, electrical tools, gas and electric cutting and welding equipment, plumbers and pipe-fitters equipment and other miscellaneous hand tools. Works on a variety of machines and equipment in and around plant. Works with several lubricants and chemicals throughout the plant. Job Requirements Basic understanding of production and machine operation. Ability to use tools and precision equipment. Must have excellent attendance and work record. Must have machine experience. Must be able to work/communicate well in a team environment. Must be able to work in cold/hot temperature. Other tasks as assigned. Education Requirements: High School or equivalent This is a union position. Physical Requirements Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Prior experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to perform physical work with frequent use of arms and legs. Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders. Be able to sit, walk, or stand for long periods of time. Ability to work late shifts, weekends, and holidays. Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Authorized to work for any employer in the US. 3 years of experience in the electrical machine building field. Knowledge of 110V, 230V, 480V, and 24V DC. Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purpose. Must have experience using the following equipment: Voltmeter, hand tools, hand crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers. Must be comfortable lifting up-to 50lbs, bending, stooping, standing, and climbing up to 10ft. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. Strong attention to safety.
