Job Description:
Skills / Duties and Responsibilities:
Calibration of engine control (EFI/OBD) for North America and global markets
Complete engine calibration in accordance with procedures to meet regulations and other performance targets ( emission, fuel economy, power, drivability and OBD)
Prepare and manage calibration and resource schedule to meet development deadlines
Test preparation, data collection, data analysis , and technical report creation on a regular basis
Build successful relationship with calibration technician group
Conduct vehicle testing and development under various tolerance conditions and extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, high altitude)
Complete required internal training necessary for job execution (Technical, Driving, etc.)
Perform software logic and value confirmation activities
Requirements:
Required minimum education and experience:
A bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Emissions calibration experience in conventional and/or hybrid powertrain
Excellent driving record
Thorough understanding of internal combustion engine theory/practice
Proficiency in MS Office
Experience investigating technical issues and creating effective technical solutions
Nice to have:
Experience calibrating engine controls for markets other than the US (Japan, Europe, China, etc.)
Advanced engineering degree
Experience with Model-Based Design processes
Experience with other programming languages such as Python, VBA, etc.
Proficiency in MS Project
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink/C/C++ programming languages

Prepares developer agreements and drain contracts for improvement of county drains associated with commercial and residential developments.

A client is looking for a Calibration Engineer in the Southfield, MI area. This Engineer will join the Resident Engineering team and work onsite at an OEM (WFH at the moment) as an Engineering Representative and collaborate with cross functional teams to calibrate body electronic modules (for example: Body Control Module, Exterior Lighting Module, and Passive Entry Passive Start) for upcoming vehicle platforms and models. They will be responsible for supporting the calibration of electronic modules for all part numbers for an OEM customer. The Calibration Engineer will create and maintain documents with this calibration data and ensure it is complete and accurate for each part. They will be responsible for reporting / uploading the data into the OEMs tools. This engineer will also perform some bench or on-vehicle testing for the modules when needed.

About the Role
How you will contribute
* Plan, coordinate and execute Engineering function(s) for assigned projects, including processes, equipment, work standards, and facilities.
* Support the application of lean principles and apply lean tools, including standardized work, 5S visual factory, total productive maintenance, time studies, and pull systems.
* Develop plant and process layouts, and improve existing layouts to maximize efficient use of space, equipment, and labor.
* Assist the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager to make informed decisions relating to the purchase of equipment, including forklifts, tooling, lift assists, generators, compressed air systems, racking, sweepers/scrubbers, compactors, and miscellaneous items pertaining to specific projects.
* Utilize 5S, Kaizan, JIT Delivery, Labor Balancing, Capacity studies, Time & Motion studies, Six Sigma methodologies, AutoCAD, MS Excel, project management, facility and process design, lean manufacturing concepts and material flow engineering.
* Obtain quotes, perform cost analysis, and manage contractors working on various installations and facility construction.
* Develop systems for maintenance of equipment and facilities.
* Institutionalize TPM methodology in accordance with corporate standards; assist with tracking the project capital budget and report ongoing status to the Project Manager and VP Engineering.
* Assist with training plant engineers hired to support the operational organization during plant launches.

* Proficient in MS Office and Project Management software.
* Ability to travel to assist in launching new facilities.

What You Will Do:
* Design and Development: Engage in the end-to-end engineering of wheel and tire systems (i.e., wheels, tires, and related components) from concept through production. Use CATIA V5 to create 3D models and 2D drawings of wheels, tire/rim interfaces, and integration of TPMS (tire-pressure monitoring system) sensors. Ensure designs meet all performance targets (i.e., strength, weight, and cost) and integrate seamlessly with braking and suspension systems.
* Specialty Off-Road Systems: Develop, support, and implement specialized off-road tire technologies such as beadlock wheel systems (for low-pressure off-road usage), mud-terrain and all-terrain tire packages, run-flat tire inserts, and central tire inflation/TPMS solutions. Work with suppliers to customize these systems for Hyundai's vehicle applications, enhancing off-road capability and durability.
* Validation and Testing: Support validation plans for wheel and tire designs by aiding in test plan creation and criteria efforts concerning durability, fatigue, impact, and off-road abuse testing of wheel and tire systems. Support vehicle-level testing for ride and handling, including ride tuning and handling dynamics evaluations on various terrains. Analyze test data and failure modes and iterate designs to meet rigorous Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and SAE performance standards.
* Regulatory Compliance: Support workload to ensure all wheel and tire systems comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, including adhering to FMVSS for wheels/tires and TPMS, as well as SAE and other applicable standards for tire sizing, load ratings, and performance. Prepare documentation and reports to demonstrate compliance and support homologation for targeted markets.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with vehicle dynamics, suspension, brake, and body engineering teams to integrate wheel/tire systems without issues (e.g., brake caliper clearance, suspension travel, fender clearance, etc.). Work with electrical/control teams on TPMS and any active tire pressure management. Coordinate with manufacturing and service teams to ensure the wheel and tire designs are feasible to produce, assemble, and service (including spare tire and jack/tool provisions).
* Supplier Coordination: Liaise with OEM and Tier 1 suppliers for wheels and tires. Develop specifications and requirements for supplier-designed components (e.g., custom tire compounds, wheel castings/forgings, etc.) and manage supplier deliverables. Participate in design reviews with suppliers and resolve technical issues in development or production (e.g., tire uniformity problems, wheel finish issues, etc.).
* Project Leadership: Support wheel and tire subsystem projects on new vehicle programs. Develop timing plans, track progress of design and testing milestones, and ensure on-time delivery of components for prototype builds and production. Conduct design reviews, DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) for wheel/tire systems. Provide regular status updates to program management and proactively address any risks or roadblocks.
* Mentorship and Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and team members
* Travel: Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
* Basic Qualifications:
