Codocedo at the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research team investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms linking traumatic brain injury (TBI) to Alzheimer's disease (AD), with a particular emphasis on microglial immunometabolism, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration.
This position is supported through a partnership with Harba Solutions and is designed for a motivated scientist who will play a central role in coordinating and executing experimental studies, supporting team members, and advancing projects that integrate mouse models, molecular biology, imaging, and gene expression analyses. The ResearchAnalyst will contribute directly to ongoing and newly funded projects and will be exposed to cutting-edge approaches in neuroimmunology and neurodegenerative disease research.
Department Information
The position is housed within the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute at Indiana University School of Medicine. Stark is a highly collaborative environment with strong institutional support, state-of-the-art core facilities, and a vibrant community focused on Alzheimer's disease, traumatic brain injury, and related neurodegenerative disorders.
The Codocedo Lab studies how metabolic reprogramming of microglia shapes inflammatory and degenerative outcomes after brain injury and during neurodegenerative disease progression. The lab integrates in vivo mouse models, molecular and cellular assays, immunohistochemistry, gene expression analyses, and advanced imaging approaches, working closely with collaborators across IU and beyond.
General Responsibilities
Perform complex and detailed laboratory experiments related to TBI and AD research.
Conduct in vivo and ex vivo studies using mouse models of neurodegeneration and brain injury.
Assist with tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and image analysis.
Perform molecular biology assays, including RNA and DNA extraction and qPCR.
Organize, analyze, and maintain experimental data and research records.
Coordinate day-to-day experimental workflows across multiple projects.
Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, and compliance with safety protocols.
Assist with training and mentoring of junior staff, students, and trainees.
Contribute to the preparation of figures, reports, and data for publications and grant applications.
Participate in lab meetings, project discussions, and collaborative research efforts.
Education
Required
Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, immunology, pathology, or a related biomedical field.
