The Principal Chemist will be responsible for assisting in the design, then synthesizing and characterizing new digestion resistant soluble fiber ingredients.
Core Responsibilities:
Apply chemistry, biochemistry, and understanding of dietary/bulking fibers in the commercialization of new sugar reduction ingredients Conduct fiber synthesis and characterization protocols, work with Analytical Science subject matter experts for specialized analyses Collaborate with Application and Sensory team members to assess fiber compositions for commercial suitability.Work in a safe manner in all aspects of the work environment such as laboratory and office settings.Record and document all stages of R&D work, operate within Knowledge Management and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).Prepare reports and presentations

Qualified candidates will have:
M.S/B.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with 5 to 8+ years' experience in with applied knowledge in synthetic organic and/or ingredient synthesis techniques.Preferred experience with dietary fibers. .Experience with fiber characterization including chemical linkage analysis, in vitro digestibility analysis techniques, and prebiotic compounds is desired. Experience in the formulation and performance attributes of bulking agents and soluble fibers is desirable.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers (both domestic and international) in a clear, focused, and concise manner Ability to drive for results and work within appropriate guardrails and time/resource constraints. Ability to anticipate needs and advance projects and workflows.

Title: R&D Chemist, New Product Development
Department: Research and Development
Immediate Supervisor: R&D Manager
Status: Exempt
Position Purpose: Work with internal stakeholders in a formalized process to identify, fully explore and document new product opportunities. Contribute to the development of the overall business case for the new product opportunity.

Principle Accountabilities
• Utilize QFD, VOC or New Product Blueprinting in the process of determining the performance factors, physical properties, physical appearances, and intangible qualities that will be designed into new products or product groups.
• Deliver solutions which exceed our customer's requirements at a competitive cost in an acceptable time frame.
• Develop the innovative product design through the use of extensive lab and pilot facilities. Work with the operations group to translate the design into a commercially viable process.
• Follows new products into the field, works with Technical Service and Sales to gain customer acceptance and helps uncover any product deficiencies.
• Travels to customers' facilities to support new product development and product improvement efforts.
• Supporting or leading key initiatives including but not limited to capital projects, raw material substitutions, product improvements and acquisition support.
• Utilize excellent project management skills during the entire new product development.
• Collaborate with Operations, Product Management, Sales, and QC as appropriate throughout projects.
• Determines the criteria for experimental designs, conducts and reports on the outcome of the experiments and recommends the factors to be studied in future experiments.
• Reaches out to current and identifies potential suppliers to access information, samples, and technical assistance. Travels to suppliers' facilities to conduct technical exchanges.
• Participates in and makes contributions to intradepartmental and interdepartmental teams
• Monitors and reports on all project related activity to R&D Manager.

Essential Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline.
• Three to five years' experience with Research & Development.
• Proven project leader with high success rate.
• Exceptional time and project management skills.
• Innovative, organized self-starter with good problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative interpersonal style with experience in leading project teams.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to travel ~ 25% to visit IPG plants, IPG HQ, and customer and supplier locations

The Chemours Company has a R&D Chemist positions available supporting the Advanced Performance Materials business. The positions are in various aspects of the technology organization including product development, process development, and application development.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

+ Develop and execute experiments safely and independently, collect organize and record the necessary data, share conclusions broadly and continue experiments as needed with minimal guidance from supervision

+ Interpret and analyze results and make suggestions on alternative approaches or improvements

+ Interface with senior technical researchers to set the objectives & priorities for the various tests
