- Work with the ATS network to drive process stabilization, standardization, time studies, end to end process mapping and continuous improvement for the NAST Network.

- Evaluate performance objectives and metrics across the yards to proactively identify process improvement opportunities within the assigned process path.
- Develop and implement detailed standard operating procedures to support daily operations within optimized operating window for each fulfillment process.
- Partner with operational leaders within TOM/Fulfillment Centers (FC) to execute implementation of process improvements driving stabilization and standardization.
- Deliver coaching and process path information to operational leaders within ATS as it relates to the respective process paths to support reduction of variation in process standards and knowledge gaps.
- Execute, measure and support communication of project impacts in partnership with the site leaders responsible for day-to-day operations.
- Focus on FMEA based analysis to identify variables that generate consistent defects for the transportation network.
- Domestic travel up to 40% to perform role responsibilities may be required

Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Engineering, or related discipline, and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a similar process and building layout design and development role.

* Product Design: Design components and systems for Caterpillar products to meet customer needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the value chain-from concept to production-to deliver effective solutions.
* Simulation/Performance Analysis: CFD [Computational Fluid Dynamics] (ANSYS), FEA [Finite Element Analysis], 3D modelling, autonomy sensor and photorealistic environment root cause investigation, system/subsystem/component design optimization, structural dynamics, development and optimization of engine, aftertreatment, battery, fuel cell, powertrain, machine system performance, and/or autonomy and multiple machine coordination.
* Test/Validation/Hands-on: Apply strong mechanical engineering understanding in a test/validation (hands-on) environment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with others for optimal results.
* Controls Development: Develop/implement control system algorithms using Matlab/Simulink for various control systems including, but not limited to, engine controllers, machine implement controllers, as well as powertrain controllers. Will be responsible for understanding the feature requirement, implementing it, as well as testing it prior to a production rollout.
* Electronic Components: Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules, as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, help design PCB [Printed Circuit Board] layouts, as well as perform digital/analog/power circuit analysis and testing. Other duties may include working with suppliers, testing the controllers/components in various environments, ensuring that FMEAs [Failure Mode and Effects Analysis] are conducted and documented to meet stringent Caterpillar quality requirements.
* Embedded Software Development: Develop embedded software in C, C#, and/or C++ for various electronic control modules. Some examples of embedded software development applications include Datalink communications, inputs and outputs (sensors and actuators), speed calculation, injection/spark timing, memory management, CPU optimization, multi-core design and implementation, autonomy algorithms for perception, localization, planning, etc. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python/Visual Basic for automation.
* Software Validation/Verification for Electronic Systems: Verify functionality of a feature or control system algorithm on a HIL [Hardware in the Loop] simulator bench or a SIL [Software in the Loop] system. Understand the requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller/control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team, and help validate fixes.
* Engineering Data Analytics: Ability to write and understand computer code, Python, analytics/data science experience, exposure to machine learning concepts/tools, engineering and statistics fundamentals.
* Process Engineering: Apply mechanical, manufacturing, systems and/or industrial engineering knowledge to analyze and optimize an engineering process or processes. Will have the opportunity to leverage problem-solving and communication skills.

As an Operations Engineer for Amazon, you will work with some of the most talented engineers in the design, development, and delivery of physical distribution systems around the globe. You are responsible for managing a technology or integration project, successfully delivering the solution to meet project goals. You may work directly with external equipment vendors, customers, or partners, and you have a solid understanding of the design approaches and industry technologies utilized in fulfillment and distribution center designs. This role requires 75% regional travel on a yearly basis. When not traveling, you must have availability to work from a corporate office. Key job responsibilities
- Work independently with internal and external teams to successfully manage the lifecycle of challenging projects, and act as owner in delivering on project objectives and targets. Projects may span organizations or geographies in support of business objectives.
- Actively participate in firm engineering reviews, and make tangible impact on the proposed solutions on an individual system or its components, on the overall systems architecture, and on facility processes.

- Lead and coordinate all execution efforts in delivering systems and automated equipment designs per established standards and guidelines. Simplify, optimize, remove bottlenecks and provide feedback while resolving difficult system problems or technical deficiencies.
- Lead effective meetings by setting the objectives, putting the right people in the room and driving detailed business and technical discussions/alignment. Document meeting discussions, decisions and future steps, ensuring alignment on expectations with internal partner teams and outside vendors.

You are managing one or multiple projects that can vary in scope, complexity and duration.

You may be facilitating the planning and/or implementation meetings with projects' stakeholders, ensuring alignment in objectives, expectations, and the next steps; you would capture and publish detailed notes after each meeting to drive ownership and follow-through on the actions and decisions. Reviewing and approving Sorter System Functional specification document is one of the essential tasks, and you may be tracking the on-time creation of the sorter configurations with the internal automation teams. You may be brainstorming and developing workaround solutions while mitigating the project delays or design issues. As a part of the acceptance testing, you may be performing systems installation quality, safety, throughput, and performance qualifications, frequently communicating the progress to internal and external stakeholders.
