As a Device Engineer located in Scottsdale, Arizona, you will have the opportunity to interact with cross-functional team of engineers in application, corporate R&D, foundry, product and marketing to develop and release-to-market industry-leading analog protection and small signal products.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
Design, layout and verification of protection and small signal products to meet the specifications with device and circuit analysis tools
Responsible for TCAD simulations to define new device design for new technology platform.
Interface with internal and foundry technology teams for integration of process modules.
Drive high quality and thorough design reviews including a playback to device targets.
Collaborate with marketing, product engineering and project managers to surmount challenges and maintain development schedules
Take joint responsibility for product-manufacturability and yield
Participate in roadmap and strategy development.
Participate in selecting fabs and assembly houses for process development through production.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Possess initiative and motivation to work with cross-functional teams effectively.
Qualifications
Master or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field with emphasis on semiconductor device physics and process fabrication
Chip layout experience for protection devices is desirable
Experience with TCAD process and device simulation tools is highly preferred
Experience with 3D EM simulation and/or analog/RF circuit analysis tools is a plus
Experience with JFET, MOSFET measurement techniques is a plus
Knowledge of flip‐chip and wire‐bond packaging technologies is a plus
A track record of innovation and publications is a plus
Must have good communication skills and work ethic
A track record of leadership skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Job Description:
The Corporate Device Modeling and Technology Characterization Group within Microchip has a position for a Technical Staff Device Modeling and Measurement Engineer to join our team to help support the development of compact device models and characterize new technologies.
This individual will perform characterization of electrical devices and develop models to closely replicate their behavior, for use in circuit design simulations. Leveraging the utilization of technologies through a resourceful understanding of device behaviors, to improve analog precision, reduce power consumption and reduce physical circuit size. This individual will work with circuit design engineers to solve simulation problems.
This person will have opportunities to create their own test structures, mentor junior engineers, create and support code generation for measurement, document procedures and support troubleshooting throughout the device modeling process.
