Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Engineering role is responsible for driving manufacturing performance through strategic leadership and targeted improvement initiatives. This position leads efforts to enhance throughput, minimize inventory levels, and lower operating costs. The individual will engage and guide team members in reducing labor expenses by applying cellular manufacturing techniques and introducing innovative methods and equipment. The role also includes analyzing data to identify inconsistencies, implementing corrective actions, documenting technical findings and reports, and maintaining effective customer relationships both internally and externally.

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations Management from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant manufacturing engineering role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Overview of this Position:

Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineering (with an Electrical Engineering emphasis) will support eight (8) facilities of the North American Food Division manufacturing operations. This position will work closely with the manufacturing facilities in regard to electrical programming, problem solving, etc. for both the 3-Piece and 2-Piece steel and aluminum food cans and end processes.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Sr Manager Production Engineering (Electrical) duties would include but not be limited to the following:
Providing problem-solving on electrical technical matters relating to food can and end performance
Developing full documentation package of new and existing installations
Continued support of new installations and plants until production efficiencies and goals are met
Support plants and personnel as required to identify production problems or issues, identify viable solutions and implement the same
Develop job completion schedules and monitor their progress
Guide, support and train plant electrical teams
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements
BS degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
5+ years in a packaging manufacturing environment, food production or a similar industry.
Strong technical knowledge demonstrating broad understanding of electrical power and controls design and installation
Demonstrated experience in PLC logic programming, documentation, and troubleshooting control programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.)
Experience with facilities power distribution (including voltages to 600v & three phase) and control systems and subsystems
Power transmission equipment such as gearboxes, drive trains, conveying equipment, etc.
Proven record of delivering engineering outputs to achieve scheduled targets

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Under general supervision is responsible for the following major tasks:
Responsible for all assembly machine activities associated with new product launches including:
Participating with the product development team and corporate manufacturing technical leaders to:
Ensure products are designed for manufacturability and quality.
Specify robust assembly machines that include effective error proofing, good ergonomics, and facilitate efficient standardized work.
Provide feedback to the corporate manufacturing technical leaders to improve assembly machine standards.

Working with corporate packaging engineers and packaging suppliers to develop exeternal packaging and internal work in process packaging that ensures safe, defect-free transportation to subsequent operations and the customer.
Work with the SLMS engineer (lean manufacturing) to develop flow racks for the assembly cell.
Write standardized work instructions so operators can perform work safely, with the proper quality, and in the proper time.
Lead and perform engineering changes to assembly machines from an electrical, pneumatic, servo motor controls, PLC, machining, and sensor & vision system perspective.
Assist maintenance with developing effective preventative maintenance schedule.
Responsible for supporting manufacturing for assembly machines and cells in production.
Support the production team in increasing efficiency, quality, and safety through use of standardardized work tools (element cycle time studies, standardized work charts and combination tables, work balance tables), practical problem solving methods and kaizen improvement opportunities.
Troubleshoot process or equipment-related problems and provide solutions in a timely manner.
Develop justifications for various process improvement projects.
Conduct process audits to ensure standardized work and quality system compliance in assembly.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical discipline OR 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing or assembly machine supplier environment may be considered in lieu of a degree.
