The Mechanical Engineer works in the Tank Farm Project and Chief Technology Office Organization, supporting the Tank Farms Projects (TFP) Engineering team and will work closely with other engineers, project managers and internal/external agencies. This position will work within the Projects Engineering group supporting a wide variety of tank farm infrastructure projects using innovative approaches to solving complex technical challenges. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest. Job Summary: This position is responsible for development and implementation of programmatic and technical activities relating to spares program for the High-Level Waste Facility. This position requires interface with groups across the project, supporting Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) and commissioning and operations. In this position the engineer will develop program documents, procedures, specifications, and evaluations in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. In addition, the engineer will work with other groups such as engineering and construction automation, and engineering discipline groups in a team environment. This work will be performed under direction of the Quality Engineering Manager. The ability to coordinate and facilitate technical discussions to resolve issues involving management as well as line personnel is required. The successful applicant will have the ability to interact with all levels of staff in an effective and diplomatic manner. They will also have a demonstrated ability to take the initiative to solve problems and develop practical solutions for implementation. Part-Time Telework: This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office.
