We are seeking an experienced and skilled Umbilical Mechanical Engineer II to join our dynamic Umbilical & Cable Systems Engineering team at our manufacturing and design facility in Mobile, AL. The Umbilical Mechanical Engineer II will actively contribute to design, manufacturing and delivery of subsea oil and gas umbilicals and distribution equipment under the guidance of a lead engineer.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design and development of subsea umbilical systems, inclusive of umbilical cross section, topside and subsea umbilical terminations.
Assist lead engineering in management of all project technical deliverables while adhering to project budget and schedule.
Function as deputy lead engineer as required to support the lead engineer and project team
Assist in engineering specification of sub-supplied ancillaries such as dynamic bend stiffeners, bend stiffener connectors, buoyancy and ballast modules, and various clamp assemblies.
Prepare engineering calculations and reports required for cross section design, end. termination strength, seabed stability, corrosion protection, accumulated plastic strain, sea fastening and any other project specific requirements.
Assist with development of manufacturing plan and umbilical layout for most efficient manufacturing of the umbilicals.
Provide support of all manufacturing activities including umbilical bundling and extrusion, termination, factory acceptance testing and loadout and installation.
Support development of test samples and procedures for typical API 17E umbilical tests such as umbilical flex fatigue, tensile and torsional, end strength, bending stiffness, bundle impact, crush, internal friction and tensioner hold back testing.
Produce technical project documentation to be delivered to and agreed upon with the client under the guidance and approval of the lead engineer.
Prepare ship loose project material to be delivered with umbilical installation package.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting during all phases of project execution.
Evaluate effectiveness, safety, and economic impact of designs and propose optimizations as required.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, procurement, quality, manufacturing and offshore installation teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, mechanical is preferred 3-5 years of experience in engineering.
Subsea engineering experience is strongly preferred but not required.

Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the planning and design of fire suppression systems, considering the complexities of production, installation, operation, maintenance and repair, testing, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical System Design
Producing drawings, schematics, preliminary layouts, system function, etc.
Providing engineering calculations.
Implementing, Performing, and Sustaining Factory Acceptance Tests, Commissioning Procedures, and Engineering Drawings
Field Commissioning & Technical representation (International and Domestic Travel)
Assist and/or lead in Research and Development projects and opportunities.
Reviewing all the documentation received from the client to ensure that the information is sufficient to design a system that meets their contractual requirements.
Developing and implementing design schedule for each project.
Monitoring and maintaining schedules.
Ensuring that Production has the necessary information and drawings for their project, providing technical and engineering guidance to group leader and other assigned personnel.
Understanding the resources required and monitoring overall resource levels for the design effort.
Obtaining and reviewing vendor information and technical data as required.
Reviewing and developing Subcontractor Data Requirements Lists (SDRL's).
Collaborating with the Engineering Manager throughout each project on any cost or schedule issues.
Responding to and resolving all owner comments and regulatory comments and issues.
Ensuring that all Regulatory and Classification material certificates are received of all projects and that they are correct.
Qualifications
What we are looking for:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum 5 Years work experience in the engineering field or subject fields contained within this Job Description
Practicable knowledge in Pump, Valving, Instrumentation, and Piping/Tubing technology
Practicable knowledge of materials, threads, & fasteners
Practicable knowledge of Incompressible and Compressible Fluid dynamics
Basic Structural analysis skills
Basic understanding of piping stress analysis
Basic understanding of machine design, e.g. Milling, Drilling, Cutting, Turning etc.
Basic understanding of welding processes and implementation into design
Fundamental understanding of fire protection system design
Good working knowledge of planning, with the ability to schedule and monitor tasks
Excellent time management and people management skills.
Effective budget and cost control management skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
Proficient use of MS Office programs including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
Basic to Practicable operating knowledge of Computer Aided Design programs, e.g. AutoCAD, Solid Works, CREO, Navis, Pipe-Flo
Excellent attention to detail
Other:
Proficient use of Auto-CAD and other related programs a plus.
Certificates/Degrees in fire protection design are a plus.
NICET Certifications in any fire system designs is a plus.
PLC ladder logic programming capability is a plus
Electrical Control System design is a plus. E.g., Pump Motor Controllers, Logic Control Panels, PLC systems, Power & Control Circuit design

Who You Are:
* You have a High School diploma/GED

* American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
* International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
* DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
* You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
* You have math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
* Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
* Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
* Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
* Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites

Responsibilities
Civil/Site development including grading design; roadway design; storm water management systems design; sanitary sewer design, water design, and water reuse design; and erosion and sediment control design for private, municipal, state, and federal clients.
Work with a Professional Engineer in preparing all associated drawing packages, deliverables, calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.
Work on design teams in collaboration with other disciplines to achieve project goals and deadlines.
The Work is fast-paced and diverse, ranging from general civil engineering duties to technical work that requires strong communication and capabilities in AutoCAD, Civil3D, ICPR, ALDOT, MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam.
Position will require learning and becoming proficient in Dewberry engineering practices and standards, and other Dewberry-specific software programs.
Required Skills & Required Experience
BS degree in Civil Engineering.
EIT is required.
2-4 years of design experience related to site development projects.
AutoCad required and Civil3D preferable.
Able to work on teams on different task and meets project deadlines.
Work in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.
Communicates effectively.
Composes technical reports, permit documents, memorandums and other written communication such as email.
Other duties as required.
