**Test Lab**
Test interns partner closely with Test Engineers and R&D to experiment with early prototypes and vet out product designs throughout the design process. What this really means is that they get to be the MythBusters of the division. You think your design can last the entire expected service life? We put it to the test. Just like the show, we quickly design and build fixtures to simulate real life situations. In addition to these experiments, they are ultimately responsible for design verification - the quantitative testing of the technical specifications of the product. A team's experience ranges from 2 to over 15 years with technical specialties ranging from sterilization, mechanical, electrical, software, and optics. Role Description:
INTERN - Formulation Sciences (airt)
The Zoetis Adjuvant and Immunomodulator Research Team (AIRT) seeks to discover novel vaccines and medicines (prophylactic, therapeutic pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical) for the prevention and treatment of significant animal diseases using a variety of formulation approaches combined with immune-stimulating agents. AIRT seeks a dynamic and creative intern who will gain hands on experience and skills in the development of various parenteral products. Products will be used for either vaccines or active pharmaceutical formulations that will be evaluated in the lab and in a clinical setting. The intern will interact with a dedicated formulation team, project teams, and Zoetis colleagues who will share their knowledge and passion for animals. The overall goal is to prepare novel products and evaluate them in the lab for stability and release as well as in the clinical setting for safety and efficacy. An additional goal is to assess novel formulations for scalability and cost of goods to ensure that the product can be prepared on a commercial scale.
Internship Job Duties:
Preparation of various formulations (aqueous, emulsions, lyophilized) using sterile and aseptic techniques.
Operate basic lab instruments for characterization of test articles (pH, viscosity, particle size, osmolality, etc.)
Assess scalability of novel formulations
Internship Qualifications:
Enrolled in an MS or PhD degree program related to Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
Experience with biologic and/or drug formulation methods
Knowledge of immunology and immune assays is desirable.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as an individual as well as within team settings.
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position:
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $20.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour
The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois (Chicago area), Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington (Seattle area):
Student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $17.00 per hour
Student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $22.00 per hour
Student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $36.40 per hour
Student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $40.30 per hour
