Responsibilities: As an MPC Commercial intern, you could be placed within one of the departments as described below. Job shadowing and volunteer opportunities are available during internships. Some travel may be required in each of these roles. Scheduling: We are seeking a detail-oriented Scheduling intern to support our team in optimizing resource allocation and production schedules. The Intern will be responsible for scheduling the delivery of light products, feedstocks, and biofuels by pipeline or waterborne transportation to third party and company locations to meet customer's demand (sales forecast). The intern will coordinate pipeline, barge and/or tanker movements for appropriate timing, batch size and sequence of product shipments to optimize the supply of the available products from refineries and terminals, while also minimizing transportation costs and ensuring quality. They will monitor inventories at terminals and refineries daily and adjust shipping schedules to avoid shortages and the use of excess working capital. Additionally, they will develop improved scheduling methods to efficiently utilize company resources, optimize inventory levels, and minimize transportation costs as well as coordinate the communications between terminals, Commercial, Exchange and Product Quality regarding any inventory or operational issue. + Desired major and or minor - Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance or other related disciplines. Marketing: Corporate Office-based interns will support the marketing team by analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities. Interns will be paid $1200/month gross for four months for a total stipend of $4800.00 Casper Mountain Science Program (CMSP) instructors lead small groups of Natrona County School District students visiting our multi-acre outdoor campus on Casper Mountain (approx. 8000 ft. elevation). Our four-instructor team lives on-site and works to inspire young people to learn in the outdoors while developing an appreciation for science. CMSP offers single-day and multi-day (overnight) programs to K-12 students. Students visiting are typically between 4th and 8th grade, and instructors teach lessons designed by our staff to meet the Wyoming State Science Standards and to develop students' connection to the natural world. While some activities with students are completed indoors, a significant portion of the teaching is outside on our forested campus. When in the outdoor environment, interns may be exposed to inclement weather, uneven terrain, and potentially dangerous plants and wildlife, so extra safety precautions and an awareness of the surroundings are required. Instruction of students on campus is performed Monday through Thursday, with in-school instruction, and additional training is done on Fridays. The hours per day vary depending on the type of program we are providing. Instructors rotate chaperoning duties when students stay overnight, including staying with groups of students in yurts. Small “homework" assignments, readings, and other side projects are regularly assigned. Weekends provide opportunities to explore the outdoor recreation on Casper Mountain and around the state of Wyoming. Most Chemical Engineering co-ops and interns enter into the following positions: Process / Technical Service Engineers may work on a variety of projects in the Technical Services Department together with your mentor that put your classroom experience as a Chemical Engineer into practice. The vast majority of our Chemical Engineering interns/co-ops work in this area. The experience will expand your understanding of the refining environment and technical aspects of the refinery. Past projects/duties include: develop and lead test runs to optimize refinery operations; perform process engineering calculations concerning the various process technology (or equipment) in the refinery; monitor and make recommendations in regards to catalyst and adsorbents; complete projects and provide recommendations for improvements to the refinery process and equipment. Operations Research Engineers may help develop planning, blending, scheduling, and process models for refinery engineers. The models are used to optimize crude oil purchasing, refinery production, blending and finished product scheduling, and optimization of refinery production. Typical college co-op assignments include: validation of production data and mass balancing, process modeling, and development of graphical interfaces of refinery process units. Environmental Engineers work on projects that involve the compliance of the entire refinery, and you will be exposed to the majority of process units in the refinery.
