ICP Group is seeking to identify an R&D Technician to join our Lynchburg, VA plant. The R&D Technician is responsible for compounding formulations, spray/apply formulations, preparing samples, conducting testing, and collecting data in the research and development of adhesives. This position comes with an expectation of being able to manage smaller projects, assist with quality control, and provide timely and succinct status updates to the manager. Responsibilities: Maintains strict adherence to all plant safety requirements including wearing proper PPE both in the plant and in the lab Knowledge of and adherence to all requirements of company quality system, including Design Control Supports Chemists on projects Manage/lead less complex development projects with regular updates to relevant stakeholders (such as manager, team, or internal customers.) Performs small scale manufacturing batches / experimental formulas, including filling cylinders Performs testing and application of adhesives (viscosity, solids, bond, open time, SAFT, peel) according to established procedures or specific instructions Data acquisition, recordkeeping, filing, and organization of related materials, electronic or otherwise Ability to organize testing data in Excel or other applications and present data to others Lead and manage technical service requests to support the commercial team Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and organization of all related work areas Maintain chemical storage, including lab environment, in accordance with safety guidelines Complete assignments and projects to the best of your ability based on established procedures Assists QC and Production as assigned Perform other duties as assigned Experience needed High school diploma or GED One to two years' quality control experience is required Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field preferred Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both written and verbal Must be able to multi-task effectively, close the loop, and follow specific instructions (work instructions, procedures, etc.) Must be self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented Must be able to communicate effectively with peers and management Must be able to work in a non-temperature regulated environment MS Word, Excel, and Outlook software proficiency required Aptitude to learn and use other computer systems and software as needed Math ability to easily perform necessary functions Ability to work in chemical manufacturing environment, involving solvents and other hazardous materials Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs. and perform other necessary physical requirements in performance of regular job duties including, but not limited to: Prolonged periods of standing at lab bench and/or production line Working with common classes of chemicals used in the adhesives industry Must have good attendance Occasionally required to travel ICP Group is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer and welcomes all qualified applicants. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF). The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant.
