The primary responsibilities of this role will include Start-up of all down machines when ready, attending and actively participating in tech meetings, housekeeping, checking process parameters while ensuring all alarms are on and active, submitting first pieces to the Quality Lab, completing material changes, and setting scales. The Processing Technician 2 will provide troubleshooting support to the production group to correct problems. This role will act as the liaison between Production and the Process Engineering dept. As a Development Chemist - Liquid Industrial, you will be responsible for customer-facing development opportunities in basecoats and clear coats for the Industrial Coatings Liquid OEM segment. You will work closely with the Associate Manager, S&T and sales managers in support of key customers while thoughtfully applying formulation expertise in a high-energy environment that encourages your growth! You will play a key role in formula design, product preparation and application, and the testing of coatings to meet challenging customer requirements. This is an onsite role in our Oak Creek, WI. facility. Key Responsibilities Follow all PPG EH&S and safety guidelines 100% of the time while working. Lead projects and directly oversee work of contractors and technicians. Prepare and apply liquid coating products for testing against customer defined specifications and requirements. With feedback from technical service, address customer complaints/concerns through root cause analysis and/or formulation changes. Communicate and ensure recordkeeping through written/verbal summaries, reports, and presentations to both internal and external customers. Act as a liaison to manufacturing by answering QC questions, working to maintain formula alignment, addressing problem formulas, and product quality concerns through experimental work. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry, Polymer Science, Coatings Science, or Chemical Engineering or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree, PhD, or global equivalent a plus. 5+ years of coatings formulation experience and proven laboratory experience.
