What Your Job Will Be Like We are seeking a Summer - Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team in Summer of 2026. The position entails working in and supporting operations in Tech Area V which consists of two research reactors, the Annular Core Research Reactor and the Critical Experiments reactor, an Auxiliary Hot Cell Facility for waste processing, a Gamma Irradiation Facility, and a Radiation Metrology Laboratory. These student internships exist to assist in various technical assignments related to the operations, maintenance, safety basis, and configuration management of both existing and future nuclear facilities and associated experimental activities.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
* Perform analytical analysis in support of irradiation effects and nuclear core performance.
* Provide technical support in reactor operations, radiation effects experiments, radiation dosimetry, nuclear criticality, and critical assembly technical design.
* Provide technical support in accelerator operations, radiation effects experiments with accelerators, and radiation dosimetry.
* Proved technical support for configuration management of key nuclear safety systems and experimental equipment in utilized in reactor experiments, reactor operations, engineering, and maintenance.
Salary Range

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
* Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited related undergraduate program
* Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
* Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
* Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a wet laboratory environment. Will operate standard laboratory equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform lab- and desk-based computer tasks, perform laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. May work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.

Qualifications

Directly-related experience in an aerosol research lab is required for this Research Associate position, as is demonstrated success independently completing aerosol research projects.
Experience should include conducting related research, writing reports and protocols, using a scientific approach to analyze, interpret and report data within project deadlines. Must have a demonstrated understanding of science research principles, practices and procedures and the ability to follow and enforce safety procedures.
Experience in a broad background of scientific fields including aerosol sciences, mechanical engineering, and analytical chemistry is highly desired. Additional competencies within electrical engineering, toxicology and pharmacology are preferred.
Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. On-site training will be provided to run MRI scanners and perform data analyses. Background knowledge and/or experience with UNIX, LINUX, Python, R, MATLAB is preferred. Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, various Google and spreadsheet applications, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems.
The position requires interactions with various sensitive patient populations and thus requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The job will also require flexible hours including some evenings and nights to accommodate data acquisition and other related duties as needed (approximately 1 per week).
Qualifications
Requires a bachelors' degree in an engineering field, computational neuroscience, computer science, statistics or a related scientific discipline and 6 months of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with a variety of programming languages including, but not limited to, Linux/Unix, Python, Matlab and R; familiarity with neuroimaging techniques and time-series analysis; and a familiarity with neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team, and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a dry laboratory environment. Will operate standard office equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. May interact with research participants.

What Your Job Will Be Like:
Are you passionate about working in collaboration with a hardworking team of neuroscientists, computer scientists, mathematicians, and engineers? Our team is seeking a computational neuroscience postdoctoral appointee to conduct research at the interface of neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and implementing neural-inspired algorithms on conventional and specialized hardware.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Draw inspiration from neuroscience to develop novel algorithms to tackle real-world problems.
+ Develop neurobiological models at differing levels of biological complexity, ranging from neural network theory to neural circuit models constrained by current understanding of biophysical mechanisms underlying sensory processing and learning.
+ Work with computer scientists, mathematicians, and engineers to abstract neural computations such as dendritic computation, short-term plasticity, and microcircuit computations for incorporation into artificial intelligence algorithms and human-made computing systems.
+ Develop techniques for mapping novel brain-inspired and AI models onto existing and emerging neuromorphic hardware. This includes analyzing, benchmarking, and modeling neuromorphic architectures.

Qualifications We Require:
+ Possess, or are pursuing, a PhD in theoretical neuroscience, computer science, mathematics, physics or a relevant field; PhD must be conferred within five years prior to employment.

Specific Technical Duties and Responsibilities Include:

* Performing stereotaxic survival surgery in mice to implant neural electrodes and infuse viruses.
* Performing behavioral testing in mice while recording neurophysiology.
* Collect and prepare brain tissue for ultrastructural transmission electron microscopy, confocal microscopy, slide scanning microscopy, or single nuclei sequencing.
* Performing histological sectioning and immunofluorescence histochemistry on mouse brain tissue.
* Performing confocal stereological analysis on histological sections.
* Compile and analyze data for publication and research presentations using the above-stated methodologies.
