Reality Labs at Meta is seeking Research Scientists with experience in product-focused machine learning and signal processing research to advance our pioneering work in neuromotor interfaces, which has grown out of the acquisition of CTRL-labs. The Opportunity: The IBRI is seeking motivated undergraduate or graduate students for our Summer Internship Program. Computational Research Interns will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment, contributing to data-driven projects that support translational science and biomedical innovation. The Summer Internship Program runs from May 18, 2026, through August 7, 2026. Responsibilities: Data Analysis and Visualization: Clean, organize, and analyze biological datasets using tools such as Python, R, or MATLAB. Generate visualizations to communicate trends, patterns, and insights from experimental or clinical data. Modeling and Simulation: Support the development of computational models to simulate biological systems, disease progression, or therapeutic responses. Assist in parameter tuning, validation, and interpretation of model outputs. Bioinformatics and Genomic Data Processing: Work with genomic, transcriptomic, or proteomic data using bioinformatics pipelines. Perform sequence alignment, variant calling, and functional annotation. Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics: Explore machine learning techniques to identify patterns or predict outcomes in biomedical datasets. Contribute to feature engineering, model training, and performance evaluation. Software and Tool Development: Assist in building or refining internal tools for data analysis, visualization, or workflow automation. Document code and contribute to version-controlled repositories (e.g., GitHub). Scientific Communication and Collaboration: Present findings and progress updates in team meetings. Contribute to research documentation, reports, and potential publications. Collaborate with experimental scientists to integrate computational insights with lab-based research. Ethical and Responsible Data Practices: Follow data privacy, security, and ethical guidelines in handling sensitive research data. Maintain accurate records and ensure reproducibility of analyses. Participate in Seminars and Trainings: Attend workshops on translational science, data analytics, drug discovery, and career development. Engage with guest speakers from academia, industry, and nonprofit sectors. Qualifications: Enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an Indiana university undergraduate and/or graduate program OR having graduated from an Indiana High School. Degree in a field related computational research and/or bioinformatics. Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages. Familiarity with data analysis, statistics, or bioinformatics tools. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment. Interest in computational biology/chemistry, biomedical data science, or translational research. Commitment to the full duration of the internship. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
