Reality Labs at Meta is seeking Research Scientists with experience in product-focused machine learning and signal processing research to advance our pioneering work in neuromotor interfaces, which has grown out of the acquisition of CTRL-labs. We're building a practical interface drawing on the rich neuromotor signals that can be measured non-invasively via surface electromyography (EMG) with single motor neuron resolution. This technology could become one of the main pillars for interaction with virtual and augmented worlds.We are a multi-disciplinary team of researchers investigating the nature of human neuromotor signals, developing novel signal processing and machine learning methods to infer a user's intent, and creating novel interaction techniques and user experiences. Help us unleash human potential by removing the bottlenecks between user intent and action.
**Required Skills:**

1. Research and develop Deep Learning or other computational models
2. Design methods, tools and infrastructure to analyze and leverage rich multimodal data sets

Job Description
The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, at the University of Nevada, Reno, is hiring multiple research scientists and non-tenure track faculty members at various levels, with positions available for an immediate start. Each senior level role builds upon the required qualifications and responsibilities of the previous level, with increasing expectations for research leadership, grant acquisition, and industry collaboration. All positions will report to Dr. Dev Chidambaram.
These positions are grant-funded with details as follows: (a) a materials experimentalist to work on additive manufacturing of metallic and non-metallic materials funded by the U.S. Army, (b) an electrochemical (experimentalist) to work on anode materials for electrochemical production of steel funded by ARPA-e, (c) a computational scientist/experimentalist to work on characterization of lithium and other relevant materials in battery materials and battery recycling, funded by DOE.
Due to specific grants some positions may require U.S. Citizenship/permanent residency.
The Research Scientist position focuses on conducting all aspects of research, including developing hypotheses, designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, writing reports and manuscripts, and presenting findings at conferences. Additional responsibilities include mentoring students, assisting with day-to-day lab operations, and engaging with industry through research projects and partnerships. The emphasis is on experimental work, data analysis, and scientific reporting.
The Research Assistant Professor role expands on the responsibilities of a Research Scientist by including student supervision, mentoring, and the development of research proposals and publications. This position also involves contributing to new research ideas and collaborating with industry partners on applied research projects.
The Research Associate Professor position builds further by requiring leadership in grant writing and proposal submissions. This role is expected to secure new research funding, expand research initiatives, and strengthen industry collaborations. Along with supervising students, faculty members in this role will play a key part in growing the department's research impact.

The Desert Research Institute and the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invite applications for a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) position in Atmospheric Sciences to work with Dr. John Mejia and Dr. Eden Furtak-Cole. This is a fully funded four-year opportunity leading to a PhD graduate degree at UNR, with research conducted at DRI. The successful candidate will contribute to the ForgedFire Model, a next-generation, urban-resolving wildfire-atmosphere modeling framework developed as part of the NSF funded FireScape NV project. The GRA will focus on developing and advancing the model's multiscale coupling (WRF-SFIRE ↔ Fire Dynamics Simulator) to better understand wildfire behavior, smoke dispersion, and fire-atmosphere-urban interactions across the wildland-urban interface (WUI).
Responsibilities:
Develop and apply WRF-SFIRE simulations for fire-atmosphere interactions.
Implement and evaluate multiscale coupling between WRF-SFIRE (a mesoscale atmospheric model) and Fire Dynamics Simulator (a parcel-scale computation fluid dynamic model).
Integrate urban morphology, fuel datasets, and atmospheric observations into model workflows.
Analyze model performance using case studies (e.g., the 2024 Davis Fire) and observational datasets.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to publications, digital twin tools, and scenario-based wildfire adaptation frameworks.
Qualifications:

In cooperation with the National Park Service, the Great Basin Institute (GBI) is recruiting one (1) Cultural Researcher to work cooperatively with National Park Service staff at Death Valley National Park.
The Cultural Researcher will work under the guidance and mentorship of Death Valley National Park (DEVA) Cultural Resources staff and members of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe, with mentorship opportunities with the DEVA Interpretation and Education staff. Through this immersive experience, the Cultural Researcher will lead DEVA efforts to expand the interpretation of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe by conducting ethnographic and archival research to compile articles about Timbisha history and culture. The Cultural Researcher will consult with the Timbisha Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) and members of the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe to collect and organize historical information about the Tribe. The researcher may also examine public and park records, oral histories, and approved Tribal records to support the ethnographic information shared by the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe. Additionally, the Cultural Researcher will work with DEVA staff and the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe to develop creative methods for sharing Timbisha history and culture within Death Valley National Park. This may include interpretive panels or exhibits, interpretive programming, and/or cultural trainings for staff.
LOCATION:
Death Valley National Park is located in Nevada and California and boasts some of the hottest and driest climates, and lowest elevation in North America. The park includes a superlative desert of streaming sand dunes, snow-capped mountains, multicolored rock layers, water-fluted canyons and three million acres of wilderness. Death Valley is home to the Timbisha Shoshone people and to plants and animals unique to the harshest desert environment. The closest cities are Pahrump and Beatty, Nevada (both approximately 1 hour away). Las Vegas is a little over 2 hours away.
Field conditions include hot, arid days with high exposure to the sun, as well as cold, winter weather. Resources of the region include threatened and/or endangered species habitat, big game habitats, abandoned mine lands, and historic and prehistoric cultural sites.
CONTRACT TIMELINE:
This project is expected to last for approximately 42 weeks beginning in late August, pending the completion of a Department of Interior (DOI) Background Investigation (BI).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Wage: $22/hour with overtime at 1.5x hourly rate. Full time, average 40 hours per week;

Job Description
The Department of Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position. The selected candidate will work in our long-term system of food-caching mountain chickadees in the Sierra Nevada mountains (north of Truckee, California). The expected start is April 2026 and funding is currently available for 2 years (annual salary is $61,008 plus benefits), but depending on success of pending proposals, more funding may become available. The research in our lab is focused on spatial cognition, behavioral ecology, and population biology using individually-banded mountain chickadees. Our field work continues year-round with peaks in the winter when we study cognition and, in the summer, when we study breeding biology. All field work is in extremely rugged montane conditions where we can get up to 15 feet (5 m) of snow throughout the winter and we use snowmobiles and tracked ATVs to access our field sites. The ideal candidate should be able to work in physically demanding montane conditions, tolerate (or preferably enjoy) cold and snow, have previous experience working in winter conditions (e.g. skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling), have previous experience working with small passerine birds, and be highly proficient in R (ability to handle large data base and statistical analyses).

Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology or a related field.
Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Researcher - Plant Bioinformatics and Systems Genomics Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join Dr. Won C. Yim's laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. The successful candidate will contribute to a multi-institutional, federally funded project focused on improving the productivity of Opuntia (cactus pear) as a sustainable bioenergy feedstock through integrated genomic, metagenomic, and systems-level modeling of plant-microbe-soil interactions. This position provides a unique opportunity to work at the interface of plant genomics, metagenome analysis, and computational systems biology, in collaboration with researchers at national laboratories (PNNL, NREL) and USDA research centers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead bioinformatics analysis for large-scale genomic and metagenomic datasets derived from Opuntia and other desert-adapted plants.
Develop, optimize, and deploy genome assembly, annotation, and functional profiling pipelines using long-read and Hi-C sequencing data.
Integrate genomic and metagenomic results to identify key determinants of productivity and stress resilience in Opuntia.
Collaborate with molecular biologists, computational scientists, and agronomists to translate omics insights into physiological and ecological interpretations.
Prepare data visualizations, manuscripts, and conference presentations for dissemination of project results.
Required Qualifications
PhD in plant biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field.
Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.
The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.

Job Description
The Desert Research Institute (DRI; ************ in Reno, Nevada, in partnership with the Graduate Program at the University of Nevada Reno (UNR), are actively recruiting a highly motivated PhD. student to work on a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded research project in the areas of light scattering, aerosol optical property characterization, and advanced instrumentation development. Research Focus
The project will involve experimental (mostly) and theoretical and computational work with a focus on:
Aerosol optical characterization using advanced angularly resolved light scattering measurements using static, dynamic, and holography-based systems.
Development and enhancement of aerosol optical instrumentation, including multi-wavelength nephelometers, PM monitoring sensors, and lidar-based remote sensing tools.
Laboratory generation and optical characterization of bioaerosols (e.g., pollen, spores), mineral dust aerosols, and other particles relevant to defense system and atmospheric optics.
Data acquisition, signal processing, and integration with real-time particle sizing instruments.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in physics, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to the Department of Physics, an Engineering Department, or any other Department at the University of Nevada, Reno. The student must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and must be continuously enrolled in at least 6 graduate level credits throughout the duration of the assistantship.
Demonstrate experience is desired in: Hands-on experience with laser-based experiments, optical instrumentation, and aerosol sampling systems is considered a plus. Electronic systems, signal acquisition, microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi), circuit design, and optical sensor integration. Programming (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB).

Compensation/Benefits
DRI offers a competitive support package, which includes a half-time (50% FTE) minimum monthly salary of $2250 for PhD students during the academic semester with the opportunity to work up to full-time during the summer.
Graduate student health insurance is fully covered by DRI. The grant-in-aid tuition waiver covers 100% of tuition/per credit costs for up to 12 credits and waives non-resident tuition rates. Grant-in-aid does not cover other fees or books. This assistantship entails 20 hours a week during the academic year and has the potential for full time during the summer.
