We are a Boston-based epidemiology and biomedical research organization seeking a full-time, in-person clinical researchassistant for a research study examining a remotely delivered physical activity promotion and Tai Chi intervention for patients with COPD and/or heart failure at the VA Boston Healthcare System (West Roxbury campus).
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
The ResearchAssistant supports all aspects of the research project(s), including technical, clinical and administrative duties including (but not limited to) recruitment and screening of research participants, conducting outcome testing and performing clinical assessments as detailed in the study protocol(s). The position requires careful attention to detail in collecting study data, and reliable and accurate execution of other required study-related tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator. The ResearchAssistant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of research data and serves as the focal point for interactions among the research participants enrolled in the project(s). Training will be provided in the study techniques including all assessment methods.
There is opportunity for the candidate to actively participate in writing abstracts and research papers, and delivering scientific presentations. A successful candidate will gain valuable experience and knowledge working in all phases of the clinical research process, including study design and implementation, data collection with direct interactions with patients, regulatory oversight, and analysis and interpretation of results while embedded in a clinical, hospital setting. This position is ideal for someone wishing to gain hands-on experience in a clinical or health-related field. /Responsibilities
Responsible for managing study participant processing and flow from initial recruitment, informed consent and enrollment, and follow-up assessments.
Conducts surveys in-person and virtually using standardized survey instruments or specific assessment tools detailed in the study protocol(s).
Manages research data in REDCap per research protocol(s) and established SOPs.
Reviews and verifies research data ensuring appropriate data tracking, storage and security procedures are in place.
Compiles, prepares, and assists in developing reports for internal and external oversight entities.
Maintains integrity and confidentiality of data, private health information and personal identifying information.
Attends all study-related meetings.
Skills and Experience
Degree required: Minimum of BA, BSc that includes courses in biological, social, or public health sciences is preferred.
Previous research or clinical experience with human subjects is preferred but not required.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Knowledge of standard computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, REDCap, and standard audiovisual conferencing platforms such as Zoom.
Candidates seeking a 2-year commitment or greater are preferred.
The employee must be a resident of Massachusetts upon start date.

Job Summary
The ResearchAssistant II will be involved in coordinating the clinical research activities and quality improvement data management and analysis for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) of the Cardiovascular Division at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Qualifications
Responsibilities include supporting CICU investigators in all of the stages of clinical research: including research initiation, regulatory (IRB) submission, care coordination of subjects, required education of staff, maintenance and adherence to the protocol, monitoring of data, reporting to both sponsor and IRB until close-out of each study. In addition, the Coordinator will also devote substantial effort to managing data collection and analysis for selected quality improvement initiatives linked to the CICU. Principal responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Develops, implements, and maintain databases (e.g. REDCap, StudyTrax) for CICU-based projects
* Oversees the project database data management, data collection, and data quality. Reviews and analyzes data to ensure consistency, integrity, and accuracy based on project specific guidelines
* Responsible for creating data reports and presents regular and ad-hoc study progress reports for weekly meetings, and study sponsors.
* Participates in regular meeting with QI and project teams
* Contributes to preparation of abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
* Actively responsible for the recruitment of study subjects. This includes developing and implementation of recruitment strategies, telephone screening of potential subjects, enlisting participation by scheduling appointments and sending out necessary paperwork.
* Performing study visits, including administration of consent, following procedures for study visits, and appropriate follow up with subjects.
* Collects and reviews study data, ensuring compliance with protocol and data integrity. Maintain case report forms, regulatory binders, perform follow-up contacts, and maintain meticulous study records. Obtain and process biological samples according to protocol after completing any necessary training.
* Drafts corrective action plans for any issues identified through QC. Ensures queries are responded to in a timely manner.
* Oversees regulatory aspects of trials, including monitoring or coordinating a monitoring body, safety and protocol violation documentation as appropriate. Develops and prepares content for study IRB submissions, amendments, continuing reviews, and reports. Ensures audit-ready files are kept.
* Serves as the primary contact for assigned projects for both internal and external communications. Directly responds to inquiries regarding study protocol and policy. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Work closely with others in a collaborative research environment that includes
other ResearchAssistants, physicians, computer scientists, psychologists,
neuroscientists, and other Principal Investigators on ongoing research studies
involving investigating brain abnormalities in schizophrenia, clinical high risk for
psychosis, traumatic brain injury, and other populations.
* Assist in managing and coordinating research studies by entering data, assisting
on data analysis, and being involved in clinical laboratory work such as being
present at MRI scans when subjects are scanned.
* Learn to use image processing tools for the pre-processing and analysis of
structural, functional, and diffusion Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI).
* Learn to use statistical programs such as SPSS and R to manage participant data and run elementary statistical tests.
* Learn to troubleshoot and modify image processing pipelines.
* Collect, describe, and help analyze library research materials. Help to prepare and
proof-read scientific manuscripts and grant applications.
* Adhere to established MGB and department policies, procedures, and objectives,
and exemplify professionalism and exhibit values that contribute to the goals of the lab and the hospital.
* Perform other related research duties as directed or required.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology, have completed an APA-accredited internship, have teaching experience, preferably be licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts, and maintain some involvement in clinical practice or consultation. A demonstrated record of scholarly work defined broadly (e.g., community engagement, educational leadership, innovation, investigation, and research) is preferred. .
