About This Role
K-State's College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work, is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to support a current research project. This Research Assistant supports a social science research project through data collection, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and development of written research outputs. The role requires independent judgment while conducting interviews, surveys, and analytical work, as well as active participation in project planning, coordination meetings, and dissemination efforts.

Interns will be involved in several Research Learning Modules throughout the internship, including planting, data collection and thinning, plot identification, and production. Each experience will provide education and work experience in a different facet of research.
Responsibilities
Planting Module
Interns may learn how to setup and plant various types of research studies at the PFR farm site. This will include organizing seed, planting, cleaning out meter units, and flagging or staking plots as they are planted.
Data Collection and Thinning Module
Interns will learn how to collect, report, and analyze stand count data, as well as thin plots to desired populations. Stand counts will be taken to compare fungicide treatments/insecticide treatments and many additional agronomic variables.
Plot Identification Module
Interns will learn how test plots are designed and mapped as well as the proper identification of varieties and technologies by numbering and installing signs and stakes on plots.
Production Module
Interns will learn various aspects of production agriculture through agronomic support of Beck's Hybrids sales staff in the marketing area. Opportunities will be available to ride along with the PFR Location Lead on customer calls to evaluate product performance.
This provides an excellent opportunity to learn how to diagnose agronomic issues and how to evaluate hybrid performance in real world production agriculture.

This position provides research and evaluation support, assisting in developing a research design to evaluate the processes and impacts of risk management, including risk containment and risk reduction; and taking lead responsibility for ongoing statistical profile and analysis of the offender population. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Conducts data pulls, analyses and comparisons, and prepares reports, regarding offender attributes, demographics, activities, trends, and behaviors, on an ad hoc and annual basis, as directed, and in support of the KDOC Strategic Action Plan (SAP). This information will come from both juvenile and adult systems as needed on behalf of the KDOC.
Assists in identifying questions and issues to be addressed in a comprehensive SAP, to address all issues related to risk management, including risk containment and risk reduction; identify correlation between interventions and behaviors and outcomes; and identifying trends that reflect the effectiveness of various interventions related to risk reduction.
Assists other managers in framing questions and data elements to assist in reviewing the ongoing effort to contain and reduce risk, according to proper research methodologies and practices, and as directed and requested. Assists managers in defining policy alternatives in terms of suitable for testing and analysis. Participants in ongoing discussion and strategic planning regarding data trends, what these trends mean in terms of practices, and how to continue to enhance the agencies' ability to deliver evidence-based practices regarding offenders and their behavior.
Responds to information queries and survey questionnaires, compiles offender-related statistics for submission to national agencies, other research groups, and both KDOC and non-KDOC parties. Coordinates the review of (and reviews) research proposals submitted by other agencies and individuals outside the KDOC Research Unit, including correspondence with the researcher before, during and upon completion.
Advises on the use of statistical analysis data retrieval/analysis capability. Prepares statistical information regarding offender population impact assessments on proposed and enacted legislation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Three of year's experience in collecting, evaluating, studying or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal/budget, legislative or administrative data. Education may be substituted for experience as determined by the agency. Substitution: None.

About The Role
The Clinical Research Technician II will work with Clinic teams to execute clinical trial activities in compliance with study protocol, Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s.
What You'll Do Here
Ensure the confidentiality of clinical trial participants and sponsors is respected.
Understand protocol driven timed study events and acceptable collection windows (protocol and/or SOP driven) for the timed events.
Report procedural deviations to appropriate supervisory team members.
Preparation and proper clean-up of applicable workstations (i.e. urine collection station, blood processing station, etc.)
Maintain and advocate a high level of customer service, quality and safety within the department.
Perform clinical trial activities may include but not limited to, sample handling, safety measurements, in-house testing and questionnaire administration.
Conduct all clinical trial activities and participant interaction with a high standard of customer service.
Report significant participant misbehavior to Study/Clinical Operations management teams.
Provide feedback, where necessary, to appropriate team members of study progress.
Proactively communicate issues and/or problem resolutions to departmental supervisors and managers.
Act as a mentor and coach for newly hired staff.
Complete and/or maintain training as required per jobs needs.

Responsibilities
Microbiology/Pathogens Laboratory Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Follows instructions on project methodology from laboratory management staff
Ensures correctness and accuracy of information presented to Food Safety Center on samples
Makes note of any sample and chain of custody differences in appropriate sample discrepancy logbook

Run tests as specified for National Beef and as directed by laboratory management
Inputs all data and information from received samples into electronic data base system
Prints and fills out required paperwork for samples received during shift

Checks completed paperwork for accuracy and as a part of the dual check program will check other technicians work before turning it in
Assists the inventory clerk, when needed, with the receiving of incoming supplies, recording of data into receiving logbook(s) and stocking
Inspects all received supplies making note of the condition, lot numbers, and expiration dates in the appropriate supply usage log
Assists with the daily monitoring of temperature accuracy and records all temperatures for incubators, refrigerators, and freezers on log-sheet
Enters results and prints completed reports for issuance while maintaining accuracy of all data outlined in the reports
Issues completed reports for received samples to appropriate customers
Properly implements all procedure modifications as outlined by laboratory management staff
Directs all question concerning reports to a member of laboratory management staff
Completes media growth and sterility quality assurance controls
Responsible for maintaining adequate levels of testing supplies
Completes supply re-order log for needed supplies
Ensures specified daily housekeeping duties are performed
Responsible for completing weekly housekeeping tasks and log sheet
Utilizes any available time to cross train in other areas
Assists laboratory technicians in other areas in day to day duties when time permits or when needed
Responsible for maintaining accurate records for quality system traceability
Ensures all decontamination steps for all samples that have been completed
Completes all environmental quality assurance checks
Carries out necessary testing as outlined by laboratory management for any pending results that have been determined by other team members
Performs and completes any other duties assigned by FSCML management staff
This position is a safety sensitive position. This is an On-Site position.
Qualifications
Qualified Candidates for the Microbiology/Pathogens Laboratory Technician should posses the following:
Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalence with some college background or an Associate's degree - College degree preferred
Good written/oral communication skills in English
Self-Starter while being a team player
Ability to handle multi-tasking - not afraid to get dirty
Excellent organizational skills which allows for multitasking is a must
Previous laboratory experience or science related course work preferred (must provide credentials/college completed course work)
Excellent customer service skills with all levels- Upper management, Vendors, and production employees
Must possess computer skills in Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook/email)
Schedule flexibility, including additional hours and weekends as needed

The main responsibility for this job will be conducting mini-strip and replicated testing as well as participating in other facets of Beck's Research Department.

Some duties may include reporting notes, harvest data, and preparation of yield reports for Beck's Product Development Staff

Load/unload trucks as needed

Aid in isolated corn block, nursery, and winter nursery work

Job Requirements
Education and training:
