Job Description POSITION OBJECTIVE Working under limited supervision, coordinate research work in medical and related technical areas. The Research Assistant 3 will also perform data analysis on public and lab datasets using multi-omics approaches. The research assistant will also perform wet lab work in field of neurodegenerative diseases, involving use of lab/research skills involving mouse breeding, behavioral testing of mice, and surgical procedures in mice. Other work includes Western blotting and cell cultures. This position will work with animals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Coordinate laboratory/ research activities. Plan and carry out projects in accordance with general plans. Perform statistical analysis on public/lab datasets for sc RNA-seq and proteomics results, as well as genome-wide association study (GWAS) analysis to identify genetic variants in neurodegenerative diseases. (30%) * Work closely with the principal investigator. Assist the principal investigator for funding application. (10%) * Carry out complex research assignments of a non-routine nature. Perform research work in mouse models of neurodegenerative disease by breeding mice, tattooing or ear tagging mice, genotyping mouse tails by PCR and Real-time PCR, maintaining mouse databases, surgery (pre-, intra-, and post-operative procedures), and behavioral testing. (25%) * Devise new protocols and techniques for research projects involving a high degree of skill and training. Learn new techniques such as RNA in situ hybridization and further develop existing techniques used in the laboratory. (10%) * Evaluate adequacy of techniques; study and test new procedures and analyze data. Perform research work in the field of neurodegenerative diseases using cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as mammalian cell cultures, Western blotting, tissue and cell stating, and quantification and presentation of test results. The successful applicant will have strong knowledge and research background in medical imaging (e.g MRI/MRS, CT, PET, 2D optical, etc), experience in programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, AFNI, 3D Slicer, etc), and expertise in imaging processing & analysis. We will train you how to be a lube technician who can change oil, replace wiper blades/air filters, fill air in tires, and perform other light maintenance services. All you need to do is be willing to learn, work hard, and bring a positive attitude to the shop! Up to $15/hr with base pay and commissions! Some of our most successful lube technicians are those that joined the team with no experience at all, but many others were once servers, restaurant workers, mechanics, retail employees, landscapers, and other skilled trade workers!
