Working under the supervision of the Senior Research Project Manager and principal investigators, this position performs a variety of research-related tasks including animal observation, imaging and behavioral testing support, sample collection and processing, and basic data entry and analysis. The Regenerative Engineering and Rehabilitation lab of Dr. Karina Nakayama, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is recruiting a talented research assistant to join our team. The RA2 will participate in translational studies to evaluate tissue engineered therapies and regenerative materials in small animal injury and exercise models to achieve the goal of musculoskeletal functional recovery. Specifically, they will perform and assist with animal studies, fabricate biomaterials, perform in vitro assays and cell culture, imaging, as well as help with the daily functions of the lab. This position will involve working on collaborative team projects composed of engineers, biologists and clinician scientists. Function/Duties of Position Research Conduct experiments using in vitro assays and small animal models including: animal injury and exercise models, cell and tissue culture, molecular biology and protein assays, histology, fluorescence microscopy, and image processing. Data Analysis & Recording Generate data and perform quantitative analysis using the above techniques/protocols Maintain detailed records of all experimental procedures, data collection and analysis using best practices.
