Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking applications for a Neurosurgery Career Scientist to join our dynamic and collaborative team. The successful candidate, an established investigator of national and international stature, will advance research within the department of Neurosurgery, Mayo Clinic Arizona (MCA), and Mayo Clinic enterprise, in alignment with strategic priorities. This Career Scientist will be fully devoted to Research, and play a vital role in advancing scientific discovery in neuro-oncology and neurovascular neurosurgery, fostering innovation, and supporting the translation of research into clinical practice. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside world-class neurosurgeons, clinicians, and researchers in a multidisciplinary environment dedicated to improving patient outcomes and revolutionizing the field of neurosurgery and neuro-oncology through cutting edge data science and clinical trials. Experience with blood-brain barrier research and related therapeutics is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be recognized as a thought leader in neuro-oncology and/or neurovascular disease research, with a sustained history of leadership in team-based science, impactful publications, and a consistent record of securing competitive extramural funding from federal, foundation, and/or industry sources. They will demonstrate a strong commitment to team science, mentorship of junior faculty toward independence, and fostering collaborations between clinical and academic research departments. The position will hold a leadership role in an aligned research department and will actively contribute to enterprise-wide research/translational activities. The recruited investigator will be expected to integrate well and actively build collaborations with scientists, clinician investigators, and clinicians engaged in research (CER) at MCA, while simultaneously strengthening enterprise-wide strategic collaborations and initiatives.

Under the direction of the Aquatic Research Program Manager, this position will conduct sportfish research as part of the Department's Research Branch whose mission is to conduct robust research and provide scientific information to inform and support the sound management and professional stewardship of Arizona's fish and wildlife resources and to ensure the credibility of the Department's science. This position requires the ability to work alone and in groups in the field, and to travel, camp, and work irregular hours in harsh conditions, for extended periods, including weekends as project needs dictate. Job Duties:
Major duties include:
- Plan, organizes, analyzes, conducts, coordinates and reports on complex and significantly specialized fish studies in the office, field or laboratory to support the management of the state's sportfish
- Uses specialized methods and techniques to collect, compile, and analyze data to develop findings and recommendations on highly complex and/or specialized fisheries surveys, experiments, and habitat inventory/evaluations on a statewide level. Plan and assesses manpower and equipment needs
- Operates, maintains and repairs a variety of specialized equipment common to research work, including watercraft. Assists management of project budgets, supervises and/or trains subordinate personnel, and makes oral presentations to various audiences

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Clinical Research Laboratory Technologist
This role is a hands-on bench position focused on supporting clinical research studies. Responsibilities include preparing and processing patient samples, operating laboratory instruments, and executing assays in strict accordance with approved SOPs and study plans. You will work closely with Clinical Research Scientists to support ongoing studies, follow experimental designs, and resolve technical issues to ensure accurate and timely testing. Overview
As a Clinical ResearchAssistant, you'll be responsible for completing the certified vision tasks for each study protocol they are assigned to, processing research referrals, printing and mailing informed consents to patients that have been referred to the research department.
Responsibilities
Adhere to study according to protocol guidelines.
Reviews and comprehends each assigned protocol including study proceedings and timelines, inclusion and exclusion criteria, confidentiality and privacy protections.
Be familiar and adhere to all federal drug administration, good clinical practice, and office of human subject research regulations and guidelines.
Communicate with referring physician's offices in order to obtain data necessary to complete study requirements.
Attendance of sponsor prequalification visits, monitor visits, study termination visits as applicable.
Actively recruit and be involved in competitive enrollment.
Assist physicians in data search and analysis for research studies.
Always mark charge ticket with the type of study that the patient is enrolled in.
Responds to data clarification requests in a timely manner.
Maintains subject screening logs and protocol deviation logs.
Maintains a spreadsheet tracking updates to database of all subjects referred to research.
Completes documentation on each study visit that is used to track all study related activities so that time, effort and materials can be accounted for on a monthly basis.
Works collaboratively with the other members of the clinical research team and the clinical and administrative support teams to ensure all protocols are followed and that there is timely documentation and submission of study data.
Performed unmasked/masked roles as assigned.

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Scientist within the Research Department team will serve as a subject matter expert for various production composite propellants and liners. The individual will conduct and supervise projects involving formulating, raw ingredient testing, lab scale mixing, batch size scale up, propellant property testing, and data reduction/analysis.
The position will report to and take direction from the Propellant, Explosives and Pyrotechnic Supervisor but will also work closely with the cross-functional program teams to support production programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide training to technicians to perform chemical weigh out, small scale propellant mixing, laboratory testing, mechanical property testing, and burn rate testing.
• Review results of experiments and analyses performed by other scientists or technicians.
• Perform Statistical Process Control charting and predictive modelling to identify propellant performance and/or property trends.
• Follow standard practices and safety procedures.
• Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
