Private Asset Management (PAM) is a group within Baird Private Wealth Management that provides investment consulting for some of the firm's largest institutional investment portfolios including foundations and endowments, pensions and other ERISA plans, companies and trusts and ultra-high net worth families. As intern, you'll have the opportunity to gain real-world hands-on experience in generating and analyzing data and learn how that data is used to make investment decisions.
This internship requires working full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, in our downtown Milwaukee, WI office. We are seeking a local student who can start in April/May 2026.
The Impact You'll Make:
Support the research analysts with data generation (i.e. market data, index data, performance data) and analysis
Compile financial information for internal and external reporting on a regular basis
Work with Business Development for overview books and Request for Proposals (RFPs) responses
Support the quarterly manager due diligence process
Assist in economic and market research for Investment Committee meetings and quarterly client presentations
Prepare presentations for prospective clients
Attend weekly team meetings, research meetings, and bi-weekly investment strategy meetings to gain exposure to industry best practices and team collaboration
Perform additional duties and assist with ad hoc projects as assigned

Position Summary:
This is an entry level Microbiologist position that requires a Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, or related and a laboratory internship or 1-3 years of professional experience. This job has minimal responsibilities and has frequent guidance from a manager.
Responsibilities:
Prioritizes time to maintain project deadlines and customer sample analysis turnaround.
Performs routine lab and equipment maintenance, such as cleaning glassware, counter tops, and equipment.
Maintains lab database, SOP's, and protocols.
Analyzes and interprets test results and generates suggestions, follow-up actions and conclusions.
Develops, evaluates, and implements protocol improvements.
Handles and protects confidential and sensitive data with integrity.
Accurately and comprehensively records and documents data.
Basic understanding of and ability to interpret statistical tests.
Practical knowledge of MS Excel for data analysis, graph, and figure creation.
Prepares written reports and technical notes for external and internal customers with guidance from a manager.
Possesses good technical lab skills, plates, and pipettes accurately and demonstrates repeatable results in routine tests.
Knowledgeably and safely handles hazardous chemicals and/or biohazardous materials.
Performs related work and other duties, as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Majority of work is conducted in a laboratory environment and may include occasional exposure to cold temperatures.

May be exposed to airborne particles and chemicals used in fermentation production facilities.
Safety Requirements:
Mandated use of company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Adherence to all company safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Up to two undergraduate students needed to work in mosquito biology research laboratory during the spring semester and up to 40 hours/week during the summer. Applicants will work outdoors (in the elements) collecting mosquitoes and within the laboratory. Lab members will also participate in community outreach events.

Minimum Requirements:
* Must have valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
