Position Summary Under the Direction of the Deputy of the Office of Research and Child Well-Being at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the direct supervision of the Director of Translational Research, the Researcher supports applied and translational research projects to generate actionable insights for the Illinois child welfare system. This role contributes to the design, execution, and dissemination of research, supporting data-informed decision-making across DCFS. The Researcher position also engages in continuous quality improvement (CQI) practices and collaborates with internal staff, external partners, and individuals with lived experience to ensure research relevancy and utility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Data Analysis and Translation - 40% * Support the development and execution of research projects, including protocol design, data collection, and preparation for analysis. * Analyze and interpret data, ensuring findings are accurate, valid, and actionable. * Collaborate with key DCFS/CWCA staff and contracted partners to understand existing data, data structures, and analysis approaches. * Integrate research findings with CQI practices to support system-level improvements. Product Design and Delivery - 35% * Develop research products for dissemination to diverse audiences, including reports, briefs, presentations, memos, web content, podcasts, and videos. * Ensure research products translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership, staff, and partners. * Collaborate with subject matter experts, contracted research partners, and internal teams to ensure high-quality and relevant products.
