Job Description

As a UX Research Intern, you will be part of a community of researchers and designers tasked with overcoming complicated user challenges, transforming them into meaningful and critical experiences. You should already have a strong foundation in qualitative and quantitative research methods and a demonstrated ability to observe users and evaluate system performance across a range of roles, tasks and environmental conditions. You will work with a small, distributed and highly collaborative team to investigate user needs, behavior and workflows, and use research insights to help envision new design solutions that demonstrate sound design practices.
Scope of responsibilities:
* The User Experience Research Intern will conduct research for end to end solutions for public safety and commercial customers across diverse areas.
* Collaborate with other researchers to capture and synthesize insights to work with other designers to ideate, prototype and deliver designs.
* Be someone that will approach the project as part of a greater strategy.
* The User Experience Research intern is encouraged and expected to innovate and be creative in their approach and implementation.

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) invites applicants for a 12-month, full-time Postdoctoral ResearchAssistant. This is a one-year appointment with the opportunity to renew one additional year, dependent on satisfactory performance. The start date for the position is May 1, 2025, but it can be negotiated based on the successful candidate's needs.
The successful candidate will aid in projects relating to science identity development within STEM learning environments. Possible project topics include investigating the impact of a learning assistant program on student science identity development as well as STEM identity development of first-generation students and the impact of mentorship within undergraduate and graduate school. Projects include both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis, writing publications and presentations for Discipline-Based and STEM education research communities, and training and mentoring undergraduate and graduate researchers on necessary aspects of projects such as software use and overseeing analysis.
Required Education
A PhD in any relevant area (e.g., Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER), science education, learning sciences, psychology, etc.) is required.
Required Related Experience
Two years of experience on research projects in a relevant area (Discipline-Based Education Research, STEM education research, psychology, etc.) that demonstrate an interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion is required. Interest can be demonstrated by describing participation in organizations or groups supporting marginalized groups. If research skills can be transferred from a research project not directly related, describe how those research skills will be relevant to this position.

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a postdoctoral researchassistant position (#I46010) for a grant funded by the Department of Energy. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible renewal of one additional year, depending on the selected candidate's continued interest, performance, and funding. The start date for the position is as early as December 1, 2024.
The project aims to synthesize and characterize high-quality quantum dot samples and develop and optimize a mass spectrometry-based method for analyzing ligands on QD surfaces. The role of this position is to work closely with a cross-disciplinary team led by Drs. P. Greg Van Patten and Mengliang Zhang, in collaboration with groups at Michigan State and Stony Brook, to provide high-purity and quality materials and investigate the surface chemistry of QD. The successful candidate must deeply understand colloidal nanocrystals' growth and surface chemistry, write scientific manuscripts and conference contributions, and help with undergraduate and graduate student supervision.
The project employs novel, state-of-the-art methods for analyzing surface capping ligands on semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) to understand how vibronic-excitonic coupling impacts photophysical response and solar energy conversion. The successful candidate will be interested in contributing to synthesizing and characterizing luminescent QDs and developing professional and technical skills for future positions in academic or non-academic settings. The successful candidates should desire to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and cross-departmental team environment of professional staff, students, faculty, and administrators.
Required Education
A terminal degree in chemistry, physical science, material science, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Applicants with research experience in high-quality, luminescent QD synthesis and those with experience characterizing QD with traditional spectroscopic and microscopic methods such as optical spectroscopy, NMR, TEM, powder XRD, DLS, etc., will receive special consideration. In addition, those with the ability and desire to learn and develop new synthetic and analytical methods and those with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including writing scientific manuscripts and delivering oral presentations, will receive special consideration.

Job Summary/Basic Function
The School of Agriculture at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral research fellow (#K98020) to join our interdisciplinary team focused on advancing the understanding and mitigation of methane emissions from cattle. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in sustainable agriculture, animal science, and environmental stewardship. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is as early as March 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Strong background in ruminant physiology, biochemistry, or methane emission quantification techniques.
Experience with statistical analysis and data interpretation using tools such as SAS, R, Python, or similar.
Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement experiments to measure and analyze methane emissions from cattle using advanced techniques (e.g., gas chromatography).
Develop and assess mitigation strategies including the use of feed additives in cattle.
Provide technical assistance to participating producers for on-farm trials.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including agronomists, biochemists, plant scientists, and extension agents.
Publish findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and assist in grant writing to support ongoing research initiatives.
Participate in outreach activities.
Required Education
A terminal degree in animal science or a closely related agricultural science discipline is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Applicants with familiarity of feed science and nutrition strategies for reducing methane, experience in experimental design involving food animal species, and knowledge of agricultural greenhouse gas mitigation strategies will receive special consideration.
