Job Description
The Department of Physics at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join an experimental plasma physics program focused on high-energy-density and laser-plasma science. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, execution, and analysis of experiments using high-intensity, ultrafast laser systems at major national and international user facilities. A qualified applicant should be a highly motivated experimental physicist capable of contributing to the development and execution of complex laboratory experiments and the quantitative analysis of experimental data. Experience with high-intensity lasers, ultrafast optics, or high-energy-density laboratory plasmas is strongly preferred. Familiarity with plasma diagnostics (e.g., optical, X-ray, or particle-based diagnostics) and operation in large experimental facilities is desirable. Programming experience for data acquisition, analysis, or modeling (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Julia) is a plus.
This position is initially for one year with a possible extension for up to three years based on performance and continued funding.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.

Job Description
The Desert Research Institute (DRI; ************ in Reno, Nevada, in partnership with the Graduate Program at the University of NevadaReno (UNR), are actively recruiting a highly motivated PhD. student to work on a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded research project in the areas of light scattering, aerosol optical property characterization, and advanced instrumentation development. Research Focus
The project will involve experimental (mostly) and theoretical and computational work with a focus on:
Aerosol optical characterization using advanced angularly resolved light scattering measurements using static, dynamic, and holography-based systems.
Development and enhancement of aerosol optical instrumentation, including multi-wavelength nephelometers, PM monitoring sensors, and lidar-based remote sensing tools.
Laboratory generation and optical characterization of bioaerosols (e.g., pollen, spores), mineral dust aerosols, and other particles relevant to defense system and atmospheric optics.
Data acquisition, signal processing, and integration with real-time particle sizing instruments.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in physics, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to the Department of Physics, an Engineering Department, or any other Department at the University of Nevada, Reno. The student must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and must be continuously enrolled in at least 6 graduate level credits throughout the duration of the assistantship.
Demonstrate experience is desired in: Hands-on experience with laser-based experiments, optical instrumentation, and aerosol sampling systems is considered a plus. Electronic systems, signal acquisition, microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi), circuit design, and optical sensor integration. Programming (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB).

As an Associate Research & Psychometric Analyst Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in large-scale educational assessment. **What does the 8- weeks involve?**

Job Description
The Department of Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position. The selected candidate will work in our long-term system of food-caching mountain chickadees in the Sierra Nevada mountains (north of Truckee, California). The expected start is April 2026 and funding is currently available for 2 years (annual salary is $61,008 plus benefits), but depending on success of pending proposals, more funding may become available. The research in our lab is focused on spatial cognition, behavioral ecology, and population biology using individually-banded mountain chickadees. Our field work continues year-round with peaks in the winter when we study cognition and, in the summer, when we study breeding biology. All field work is in extremely rugged montane conditions where we can get up to 15 feet (5 m) of snow throughout the winter and we use snowmobiles and tracked ATVs to access our field sites. The ideal candidate should be able to work in physically demanding montane conditions, tolerate (or preferably enjoy) cold and snow, have previous experience working in winter conditions (e.g. skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling), have previous experience working with small passerine birds, and be highly proficient in R (ability to handle large data base and statistical analyses).
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology or a related field.
Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Researcher - Plant Bioinformatics and Systems Genomics Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join Dr. Won C. Yim's laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. The successful candidate will contribute to a multi-institutional, federally funded project focused on improving the productivity of Opuntia (cactus pear) as a sustainable bioenergy feedstock through integrated genomic, metagenomic, and systems-level modeling of plant-microbe-soil interactions. This position provides a unique opportunity to work at the interface of plant genomics, metagenome analysis, and computational systems biology, in collaboration with researchers at national laboratories (PNNL, NREL) and USDA research centers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead bioinformatics analysis for large-scale genomic and metagenomic datasets derived from Opuntia and other desert-adapted plants.
Develop, optimize, and deploy genome assembly, annotation, and functional profiling pipelines using long-read and Hi-C sequencing data.
Integrate genomic and metagenomic results to identify key determinants of productivity and stress resilience in Opuntia.
Collaborate with molecular biologists, computational scientists, and agronomists to translate omics insights into physiological and ecological interpretations.
Prepare data visualizations, manuscripts, and conference presentations for dissemination of project results.
Required Qualifications
PhD in plant biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field.
Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.
The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.
The individual cannot have held previous positions in the professional ranks.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NGS data analysis and Linux based HPC environments.
Programming skills in Python or R and experience with Git.

Research Group Information
Our research group is at the forefront of free flight neuroethology experiments with Drosophila with a current focus on active sensing and olfactory navigation, while also working to translate insights from biology to a robotics context. We have two established free flight wind tunnels equipped with 3D real time tracking, optogenetics, and dynamic visual stimuli (see 2024 Curr Bio paper). Our group has developed a computational framework for quantifying when information becomes available during active sensing maneuvers using tools from control theory (see Cellini et al 2024 preprint). We also work with flying quadrotor systems in a flight tracking space to test insect inspired sensing and estimation strategies.
