The Education Policy Innovation Collaborative (EPIC) at Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking a research specialist to join EPIC leadership to work on externally-funded multi-year projects. EPIC is a policy lab located within the College of Education. EPIC partners with state and local education leaders to produce rigorous and objective multi-method research with consequence that strengthens evidence-based decision-making for practice and policy in Michigan, with implications for historically underserved students throughout the country. The research specialist will join the EPIC team in a leadership role to work on one or more externally-funded EPIC research projects. As a PhD Candidate/Research Assistant he is responsible for carrying out research on igneous geochemistry, including sample preparation, data interpretation, and scientific communication. The RA to be hired has been working on this funded project for the past two years and is now instrumental to the project's completion. Past work has included preparing samples and acquiring preliminary data that were central to securing project funding. Sample preparation for this project requires expertise in the identification of inclusion bearing mineral grains and careful preparation of these grains for microanalysis, which the RA has been trained to do under my supervision. As such, he is uniquely capable of finalizing this dataset, as well as interpreting this data and producing a manuscript on the associated work for publication. Summer 2026 Internship Opportunity The Greenhouse & Research Internship at Mt. Cuba Center offers an exceptional opportunity to gain experience in native plant propagation and research. The intern will participate in all aspects of greenhouse operation and plant propagation to assist in the production of plants in our indoor and outdoor growing facilities. Throughout the summer season, the intern will be exposed to the over 300 accessions of herbaceous and woody native plants produced per year for use in our gardens and research programs. The intern will also support Mt. Cuba Center's Trial Garden, where they will help to assess the horticultural and ecological value of the various species and cultivars that are under evaluation. The intern will participate in routine observation and rating of species, record keeping of pollinator activity, and learn the fundamentals of trial garden maintenance. Essential Functions of the Role This dynamic position provides experience in horticultural research across stages of plant growth from seed to mature plants. The intern will work closely with both the Greenhouse and Trial Garden teams while developing essential skills and knowledge.
