JOB TITLE:
Research Scientist Assistant
JOB PURPOSE:
Research Scientists are academic professionals whose primary responsibilities are to conduct and support research. UW Regulation 2-7 describes the activities that fall into this set of responsibilities for faculty; the same definition of research applies to Academic Professionals.
The successful Research Scientist will support a wide variety of agricultural research projects at the Powell Research and Extension Center (PREC), located in Powell, WY, as well as surrounding areas within the Big Horn Basin agricultural region. The incumbent will participate in designing, implementing, monitoring, and interpreting research studies across a wide range of agronomic subjects including, but not limited to, weed science, plant breeding, and plant pathology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work with PIs, graduate students, industry partners, and the PREC faculty and staff to help plan, implement, monitor, collect data for, interpret and harvest field research studies in plant science.
* Act as liaison to facilitate cooperation and communication between off-campus faculty, students, and industry groups executing research activities at the PREC and the PREC farm crew.
* Analyze and interpret experimental data for reporting and subsequent investigations.
* Help prepare reports, presentations, and other research outputs and present data to relevant stakeholders.
* Perform or supervise experiments to ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to quality control standards.
* Work closely with the PREC Director to ensure that research activities are being performed with scientific rigor and efficiency.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
* Travel for additional learning opportunities to assist in designing, performing, and presenting research results and learning new methodologies.
* Work cooperatively with station personnel, with a variety of agricultural-based tasks and responsibilities, including the application of pesticides.

* Understand the operation and limitations of PREC field research equipment and operate equipment when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Demonstrated experience presenting scientific research through published articles, presentations, and other outputs.

*What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):*
* *Explore the future token and governance design on Base *- Define potential token goals and develop a phased roadmap for decentralized governance across the Base chain and ecosystem prioritizing long term growth and effectiveness.
* *Research and analyze token designs *- Explore learnings from past token efforts, analyze token economics, understand tradeoffs, create scenario analysis.
* *Create the technology to govern for billions *- Create the Base constitution and legislative processes that empower aligned contributors (Coinbase, developers, and communities) to make transparent decisions.
* *Operationalize governance systems *- Define tools, workflows, and norms for onchain governance (e.g., legislation process, onchain voting) and offchain consensus-building (e.g., expert communities, governance forums, working groups).
* *Enable and educate the community *- Create systems, documentation, and engagement channels (e.g., in-app governance portals, tutorials, or community forums) to help contributors and app users understand and participate in Base governance.
* *Collaborate with Legal + Risk Teams* - Work with internal experts to navigate regulatory and compliance considerations, ensuring decentralization evolves responsibly.

JOB TITLE:
Research Scientist Assistant
JOB PURPOSE:
Research Scientists are academic professionals whose primary responsibilities are to conduct and support research. UW Regulation 2-7 describes the activities that fall into this set of responsibilities for faculty; the same definition of research applies to Academic Professionals.
The successful Research Scientist will support a wide variety of agricultural research projects at the Powell Research and Extension Center (PREC), located in Powell, WY, as well as surrounding areas within the Big Horn Basin agricultural region. The incumbent will participate in designing, implementing, monitoring, and interpreting research studies across a wide range of agronomic subjects including, but not limited to, weed science, plant breeding, and plant pathology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with PIs, graduate students, industry partners, and the PREC faculty and staff to help plan, implement, monitor, collect data for, interpret and harvest field research studies in plant science.
Act as liaison to facilitate cooperation and communication between off-campus faculty, students, and industry groups executing research activities at the PREC and the PREC farm crew.
Analyze and interpret experimental data for reporting and subsequent investigations.
Help prepare reports, presentations, and other research outputs and present data to relevant stakeholders.
Perform or supervise experiments to ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to quality control standards.
Work closely with the PREC Director to ensure that research activities are being performed with scientific rigor and efficiency.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Travel for additional learning opportunities to assist in designing, performing, and presenting research results and learning new methodologies.
Work cooperatively with station personnel, with a variety of agricultural-based tasks and responsibilities, including the application of pesticides.
Opportunity to mentor junior graduate students and interns.
Understand the operation and limitations of PREC field research equipment and operate equipment when needed.
Allocation of effort may be revised during the term of employment depending on funding priorities and farm workload.

JOB TITLE:
Research Associate I
JOB PURPOSE:
Conduct investigative research requiring the application and analysis of standard tests and procedures as defined by the project.
Independently and collaboratively conduct laboratory experiments, primarily in the C. elegans system, to publish papers and complete NIH-funded projects designed to understand the organismal, cellular, molecular, and genetic control of animal development and underlying cellular and biochemical processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform standard designated procedures associated with experiments/projects; interpret and analyze results; multi-task experimentally as necessary, and present data in organized form.
Review up-to-date scientific literature extracting information relevant to ongoing, proposed, or possible research projects.
Learn, develop and utilize new techniques that facilitate research goals by consulting literature or other University personnel including faculty, students and researchassistants.
Provide written and oral progress reports to supervisor and research group
Carry out genetic manipulation in the
C. elegans
model system including conducting genetic crosses, transgenics requiring microinjections, and CRISPR/Cas9 methods
Conduct phenotypic analyses of
C. elegans
at the organismal, cell biological, and molecular levels including the use of quantitative confocal microscopy, DNA recombinant engineering, biochemical methods including western blotting, protein purification, and protein interaction studies.
Write and organize manuscripts including the generation of professional figures in cooperation with the P.I.
Once proficient, the successful candidate may be responsible for working with and training other laboratory personnel, as needed
