The Research Associate II, Bioanalytical, will report to the Director, Translational Biomarkers, and will participate in the development, qualification, validation, and execution of assays investigating biodistribution, viral shedding, and functional assessments in support of pre-clinical and clinical stage programs. This position is in the laboratory of Dr. Chengwen Li in the Gene Therapy Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The general research interest is to develop adeno-associated virus ( AAV ) vectors to treat various diseases such as neurodegeneration disorders and liver diseases using animal and other research models, and to study the interaction of AAV vectors with host immune response in AAV transduced cells in a hope of designing more effective and safer AAV vectors for clinical applications. Our research investigates cellular signaling between immune cells and tumors, with a focus on developing targeted therapies for brain metastasis and brain tumors. Dr. Patrick Sullivan is a professor in the Genetics and Psychiatry departments at UNC , as well as a professor at the Karolinska Institute in Stokholm, Sweden. The Sullivan laboratory at UNC -CH invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct statistical or bioinformatic analyses of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data. We focus particularly on schizophrenia, major depression, and eating disorders. We are deeply collaborative and actively work with many major genetic, psychiatric, neuroscience, and functional genomic groups in the US, Scandinavia, Europe, India, and Australia. The individual will have the opportunity to help with multiple projects studying the genetics of various psychiatric disorders. We have multiple large datasets, and all projects are funded. The position will be set for one year with the opportunity to be reappointed yearly. The Kelada Lab is seeking a post-doctoral research associate to join their research program on the role of gene-environment interactions with air pollution in respiratory disease. We seek to uncover mechanistic links between the genome (e.g., DNA sequence variants), epigenome (chromatin accessibility), gene expression, and air pollutant-induced airway inflammation phenotypes in a mouse model system. More specifically, our project will leverage genetically diverse mice from the Collaborative Cross mouse genetics reference population to identify quantitative trait loci ( QTL ) that influence response to the air pollutant ozone. In addition to QTL mapping of ozone response phenotypes, we will also analyze gene expression and chromatin accessibility in key cell types and identify expression and accessibility QTL that mediate the relationships between ozone exposure and response. We are looking for an enthusiastic post-doctoral research associate to join this project and help lead efforts to generate and analyze these datasets. The post-doctoral research associate will have the opportunity to learn from lab members and other members of the genetics, pulmonary, and toxicology research communities at UNC , which are exceptionally strong.
