A Research Assistant (RA) is a person who assists the CRC in the day-to-day conduct of clinical trials. Like the CRC, the RA position is multi-faceted, with a mix of administrative, medical, and patient duties. The RA assists the CRC, Principal Investigator (PI), and the sub-investigators (sub-I's) with multiple aspects of study implementation. Although the CRC is responsible for coordinating all activities related to clinical trial implementation, the RA will assist and can only perform those procedures for which he or she is qualified by training and which have been delegated by the PI to perform. Responsibilities may include: · Preparing lab kits for visit · Ordering additional supplies as needed · Pre-screening potential subjects · Consenting subjects · Conducting study visits · Helping the CRC enter data into various systems · Obtaining subject records from other physicians and/or hospitals · Obtaining vital signs, laboratory specimens, ECGs · Processing and packaging of lab specimens
