The successful candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation learning algorithms to understand human health trajectories through advanced digital twin frameworks, ranging from analyzing the darkome of genomic data to developing digital twins for the human microbiome/metabolome. The ideal candidate will be an applied mathematician with equally sophisticated skillsets in theorem proving, algorithms and coding.
Requirements:

We are a group of passionate makers who have a long history of building and deploying embedded sensor systems for a wide variety of sponsors and applications. We are 50+ electronics engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers, physicists, etc.; all sharing the DNA and desire to deploy solutions for our sponsors that help the mission of national security. We focus on emerging technologies by integrating capability across electromagnetics, systems modeling, communications, analytics development, and systems design to serve as a flywheel for feeding technology advancements across the division and laboratory. **Detection Physics**

**Disruptive Technology**
We focus on the development of detection systems and data analysis techniques for a variety of missions ranging from fundamental physics to national security. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Practical experience in research methodology in agroecosystem, soil, biomass, and watershed studies.
Experience measuring water quality dynamics and training students on the topic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
Specialized or moderate skills in spatial statistics, data analytics, pixel and object-based image analysis and feature extraction, SWAT, Google Earth Engine, ERDAS IMAGINE, ENVI, R, and/or Python.
Analytical ability to include geospatial mapping and data analytics skills using ArcGIS Pro.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with problem-solving expertise
Must be able to manage multiple projects and set priorities.
Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals and developing competitive grants.
Possess the ability to perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
May assist in the supervision of students and staff as requested.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Overnight travel to research sites for field samplings that may require multiple days.
Handling and caring for heavy equipment, UAV drones, soil and water probes, and multispectral and Lidar cameras.
Occasionally, it requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
The work environment involves some exposure to inclement weather, hot or cold conditions, hazards, or physical risks, which require some basic safety precautions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a Ph.D. in Geography, Natural Resources, or related field and concentration on GIS, Remote Sensing, digital agriculture, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated or potential ability for developing competitive grants and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Licensing and Certifications:
None are , but UAV-Drone Pilot and GISP are encouraged.

Job Summary/Basic Functions
The undergraduate research assistant will assist faculty with research preparation, workshop development, and supervised workshop facilitation support activities for an internal university funded project on media literacy and deepfake evaluation.
Responsibilities include assisting with preparation and organization of workshop materials, supporting assessment setup administration, assisting with IRB-related documentation, coordinating participant recruitment and scheduling (post-IRB approval), delivering scripted workshop activities and instructions under faculty supervision, assisting with small-group discussion, supporting data collection during sessions, and maintaining organized project documentation. This is a research assistant position and does not involve independent teaching, grading, or primary instructional responsibility.
