The ResearchAssociate (post-doc) will join a research lab focused on understanding the role of the tau protein in neurodegeneration and developing novel therapeutics for diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. The applicant should have a doctoral degree (or equivalent) in a scientific field, preferably molecular biology, neuroscience, or a related field with multiple years of experience in a research laboratory. Applicants should have experience performing basic research techniques in the specific or related field as well as a fundamental understanding of molecular and cellular biology as well as neuroscience. The candidate should be detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to independently carry out research and must interact, communicate, and work well with others. The applicant must have a demonstrated record of publishing high quality research and have experience with statistical analysis of data.
Desired Qualifications
Experience/training in neuroscience and/or neurodegenerative disease research, gene therapy approaches, or intracellular signaling pathways are strongly desired. Applicants with experience in one or more of the following techniques will be preferred:
Rodent (mice and/or rats) handling experience. This includes animal husbandry (colony maintenance and genotyping), carrying out and analyzing behavioral experiments, intracerebral surgery/delivery, AAV use, necropsy and post-mortem tissue processing
Advanced microscopy including confocal, brightfield/fluorescence, and transmission electron microscopy
Advanced gene and protein analysis (e.g. SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, MSD, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, dd PCR/qRT-PCR

Regional Biologist I - Ohio
Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world's leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, seeks a highly motivated biologist to join our Great Lakes Initiative Team. As a Regional Biologist I you will work with a team of biologists, engineers, and land protection professionals to identify, develop, fund and implement coastal and inland wetland restoration, enhancement and protection projects across Ohio to support DU's waterfowl and wetlands conservation mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will work closely with DU staff, conservation partners, landowners, and funding agencies to advance the conservation of wetland and associated upland habitats. This will require coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders to establish priorities and identify new wetland conservation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, that is highly motivated with a strong sense of initiative and adaptability that can work independently and as part of a team to fulfill DU's waterfowl habitat conservation objectives within Ohio. The Regional Biologist I will have a multi-program responsibility, including private and public land programs with primary focus on wetland restoration/enhancement. The successful candidate will be responsible for project development, funding, and management including the following duties:
Develop, coordinate, and implement wetland projects on both public and private lands.
Lead all aspects of wetland restoration planning, project development, and implementation, including identification and coordination with partners and landowners, identifying/applying for funding, mapping, site assessment, assisting our engineering team with restoration design, permitting, implementation oversite, contract management, project accounting, partner coordination and reporting.
Manage the Ohio conservation budget.
Collaborate and coordinate with agency partners and other stakeholder groups as well as DU biological and engineering staff, consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and on-budget delivery of projects.
Develop/maintain relationships with conservation partners including municipalities, state and federal agencies, NGOs, and private landowners that promote and lead to the successful implementation of wetland conservation efforts.
Write, submit and administer grants and funding proposals to various agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources to secure project funds for habitat conservation work, including development of project cost estimates.
Collaborate with DU's science and development teams and conservation partners to develop and manage habitat conservation programs including, but not limited to, strategic conservation plans, landowner outreach and education, conservation easement projects, facilitated land acquisitions, and the development and implementation of additional conservation strategies and opportunities.
Work with the relevant staff to build and implement an effective, sustainable conservation program and develop a coordinated conservation strategy that supports the mission of Ducks Unlimited.
Collaborate with DU's Ecosystem Services team to identify and advance nature-based solutions for wetland and community resilience.
Represent DU on various working groups, committees, partnerships, and task forces. Support state and regional public policy objectives.
Coordinate with DU staff including Communications staff regarding public outreach and media needs; Administrative staff regarding the smooth operation of programs and budget management; and Development staff to incorporate fundraising strategies into the Ohio conservation program, , including the coordination of Donor events.
Other duties as assigned that advance the mission of Ducks Unlimited.
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, salaried position. Working hours will be a balance of office and field work, with the approximate allocation dependent on scheduling, seasonal priorities, and other factors. The position is predominantly office-based but does require periods of frequent travel, including overnight and out-of-state trips.
This position will report to the Director of Conservation Programs for the Great Lakes Initiative. This position is remote work eligible with a preferred location in our Great Lakes Atlantic Regional Office in Dexter, MI; however, working remotely in northwest Ohio also will be considered.
To maintain project timelines, we have a preferred start date on or before January 5, 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science degree (M.S. preferred) in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or related natural resources field with 3-5+ years of directly related experience developing and managing wetland protection, restoration and enhancement projects.
Experience writing funding proposals and managing grants.
Strong background in wetland ecology and management with an emphasis on restoration, waterfowl, and other wetland dependent birds with knowledge of and experience with restoration techniques, modeling, hydrology and restoration monitoring.
Detail oriented and well organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets.
Excellent management and leadership skills, grounded in a commitment to collaboration with and support of staff.
Confidence to create strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and community members and the written and verbal communication skills to work with a wide range of people.
Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS Online, ArcPro, and Field Maps) and familiarity of state and wetland conservation programs, policies, and laws is preferred.

Develop and refine genetic mapping populations leveraging pre-breeding germplasm.
Perform genotyping and quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis to identify genomic regions associated with root rot resistance

The Postdoctoral ResearchAssociate will have the opportunity to contribute to one of the research programs listed below:
1) Manipulation of low-energy heavy rare isotope beams for fundamental symmetries - we are developing two instruments - one to produce a pure beam of low-energy radioactive molecular ions and one to search for the parity doublet of Pa-229 using internal conversion electron spectroscopy - this position would assist with both projects (Jaideep Singh).
2) Laser spectroscopy of short-lived radioactive molecules - the goal of this research is to develop and apply new sensitive precision experimental techniques to study molecules composed of short-lived radioactive nuclei which are relevant to studies of nuclear structure and fundamental symmetries (Shane Wilkins).
3) Laser spectroscopy, and deceleration & cooling of radioactive molecules - the goal of this research is to develop a cryogenic spectroscopy platform for radioactive molecules which is offline from FRIB accelerator facility, and to develop techniques to bring these molecules towards the ultracold regime (Xing Wu).
Major Duties/Responsibilities
Perform research and development activities to support the FRIB Precision Measurements experimental program.
Make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results.
Compile results and prepare technical reports and documentation of outcomes.
Collaborate with other researchers with respect to large or more complex studies.
Prepare and submit research results for publication.
Attend conferences and seminars and present the results of the research program.
Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Thorough knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
Laser spectroscopy of radioactive nuclei, molecular spectroscopy, laser cooling, low-energy ion beam manipulation, and internal conversion electron spectroscopy.
Capacity to conduct independent and original nuclear science and/or atomic physics research using strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The Postdoctoral ResearchAssociate will have the unique opportunity to contribute to one of the research programs listed below:
Study of open quantum systems. The goal of the research is to explore the limits of nuclear stability, study the properties of weakly bound nuclei, and understand the nuclear reactions to produce the rarest isotopes.
Search for new isotopes (Brad Sherrill, Oleg Tarasov).
Fragment separation and the production mechanisms of rare isotopes (Oleg Tarasov, Brad Sherrill).
Investigating phenomena arising in neutron-rich nuclei at and beyond the dripline - The research program hinges around nuclear structure studies of neutron-unbound resonances and the characterization of neutron-halo nuclei via Coulomb breakup reactions (Aldric Revel).
Study of open quantum systems - The goal of the research is to explore the limits of nuclear stability, study the properties of weakly bound nuclei, and understand the nuclear reactions to produce the rarest isotopes developing a next-generation neutron detectors through invariant mass and missing mass spectroscopy of neutron-unbound states (Thomas Baumann, Paul Gueye).
High-precision mass measurements of rare isotopes - The goal of the research is to perform high-precision mass spectrometry using ion traps to address a range of science topics including nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental interactions, highly-forbidden decays, etc. This position will include a mix of hardware developments and experiments performed online at FRIB using the LEBIT facility. Major Duties/Responsibilities
Perform research and development activities to support the FRIB experimental program.
Make detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.
Compile results and prepares technical reports and documentation of outcomes.
Collaborate with other researchers with respect to larger or more complex studies.
Prepare and submit research results for publication.
Attend conferences and seminars and present the results of the research program.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of nuclear science
Capacity to conduct independent and original nuclear science research using strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to design and execute experiments and/or analyze experimental data, interpret results, and draw conclusions.
Ability to collaborate and work with a diverse group of students and scientists.
Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively and credibly, both verbally and in writing with all audiences.

Required Degree
Doctorate -nuclear physics, nuclear or radiochemist
Minimum Requirements
PhD. in nuclear physics, nuclear or radiochemistry, nuclear astrophysics or related field.
Must be published in nuclear science in refereed journals and/or conference proceedings.
Must have experience in presenting published work at conferences, workshops, during scientific outreach, and other professional meetings.
Desired Qualifications
Experience programming in C++.
Experience in using ROOT and Geant4.
Experience in nuclear electronics and data acquisition.
Experience in detector design and assembly.
