Position Summary:
The seasonal Research Technician will work on a 2-month avian powerline collision study at Audubon's Rowe Sanctuary during the spring Sandhill Crane and Whooping Crane migration in central Nebraska. The employment period will run from February 19 to April 17, 2026; some flexibility may be granted within those dates. The Technician will report to the Conservation Program Manager. This full-time position will last for approximately 8 weeks with an hourly rate of $19.00 per hour and an estimated 40-hour work week. Housing will be provided for the duration of the employment period.
The data collected will help to contribute to our understanding of the benefits of powerline illumination with ultraviolet light for mitigating collisions of birds within the Platte River ecosystem. Primary responsibilities include recording and entering data on crane flock numbers, collisions, and avoidance behaviors from a study blind on the bank of the Platte River at night. Strong visual acuity is important for accuracy of counting cranes as they fly by, sometimes in groups of tens of thousands. The Technician will also be provided with an opportunity for authorship on the publication given completion of the term.
The Research Technician is required to live on-site in housing provided by Audubon as a condition of employment.

Assist crew with set-up of blinds and other study materials.
Enter collected data correctly and in a timely manner.
Accurately count large flocks of birds in flight for extended periods of time.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will focus on one of these projects with the opportunity to contribute to both through data analyses and authoring manuscripts. The DICoN Laboratory is one of seven laboratories within the state-of-the-art Institute for Human Neuroscience, which is an 18,000 square foot facility that houses major research-dedicated tools, including two next-generation 306-sensor MEG Neo systems, a Siemens Prisma 3T MRI system, a prototype 208-channel OPM system, 64-lead transcranial direct- and alternating-current stimulation (tDCS/tACS) equipment, a high performance computer cluster, and extensive support staff.
The position is up to three years in duration. Within the two projects noted above, the area of research focus is flexible, but demonstrated expertise in neuroimaging, statistical modeling, and/or cognitive neuroscience is essential. Applicants with previous experience in addiction science, aging, and/or clinical neuroscience will be given preference, but we are primarily seeking the best candidate to join our group.
Successful candidates will have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, or a related field, with an excellent publication record for their career stage. Every day, we use our experience, agility, and innovative research strategies to help get drugs to market faster. As a Research Screening Specialist, you will work at our Lincoln, Nebraska site. You will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of all stages of participant activities including screening, training, and evaluations. Duties include entering and updating study information into database systems, collecting and organizing panelist's paperwork and documentation, and developing positive participant communications and relationships.
In this entry level role you will work in an office / clinic environment with a team of 10 colleagues all committed to the same mission: assisting in the development of drugs that will touch the lives of family, friends, and people in need around the world.
We prefer an Associate's degree in social or biological sciences or a hospitality related field, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task effectively.
For this position you may also be required to travel to our Omaha site approximately 1-2 times per week during working hours.
This full time position will work mainly Monday-Friday 5:30am-2:00pm.

**Education and Experience:**
+ High School diploma or equivalent education preferred.
+ No previous experience required.
+ Must possess basic computer skills and the ability to use computers and technology for information, and to access information necessary to complete the job.
+ Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills which are necessary to establish a selling relationship with clients and other associates.
+ Must be able to read, count and write to accurately complete documentation, utilize training tools and process inventory.
