Key Responsibilities
Participate in complex clinical research and development studies independently and as part of multidisciplinary research teams
Perform blood quality analyses using laboratory instruments such as flow cytometers, hematology analyzers, aggregometers, plate readers, and gamma counters
Conduct laboratory experiments and biological assays with minimal supervision
Perform radiolabeled in vivo recovery and survival experiments

The nearest facility at UVA is within 2.5h by car. EVMS has TEM on site to conduct preliminary studies on protein complexes. PI has large park of Linux based work stations with 256-512Gb of memory and 36-48 core processors for high speed computing. SPIDER, EMAN2 and RELION software is used for classification and 3D-reconstruction. Position is offered for 3 years and is funded by the NIH R01 grant.
Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in structural biology or muscle regulation field is required. Applicant is expected to have at least one first author publication in international peer reviewed journal along with at least one record of participation in international meetings related to structural biology or muscle regulation. Fast learning curve is expected along with the ability to independently summarize data, relate results to the published observations and write scientific papers aimed for peer reviewed journals. An ample training will be provided and PI will be available to discuss progress on a daily basis during the first year.

This position will support a research and extension program in nursery production at the Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Virginia Beach, VA. This will be a 36-month, benefits-eligible position. Continuation beyond the 36-month appointment will be based on performance and availability of funds.
The prospective candidate will oversee and manage research experiments in the field (nursery and greenhouse production), as well as assist with laboratory-based experiments. The candidate will assist in data archiving and collection, including measuring (1) different aspects of plant growth such as how shoots and roots develop, the shape and structure of the root system, and how the plant functions overall, (2) soilless substrate physical and chemical properties, (3) water analysis, and (4) possible entomology metrics.

The Quantum Electronics Group (QEG) in the Department of Physics at Norfolk State University is seeking a postdoctoral associate with expertise in nonlinear and ultrafast optics, high power diode-pumped lasers, and laser spectroscopy of materials at cryogenic temperatures.
The successful candidate will conduct research on magneto-optics, low temperature and high magnetic field microscopy, and ultrafast two-color, pump-probe experiments on strongly correlated electron systems, topological insulators, 2D materials, thin films, nonlinear optical crystals and quantum devices incorporating some of these materials. The laser facilities include: a 5W Solstice regenerative amplifier, two Topas Prime/NIRUV OPA's, Mai Tai fs laser, a Quantum Design OptiCool cryostat 4k-300K range with a magnetic field up to 7 T, and related optics and electronics.
The materials and devices studied will be fabricated in the NSU Crystal Physics and Quantum Electronics Laboratory and in the NSU-Micron Class100/1000 Cleanroom, both located in the McDemmond Center for Applied Research on the NSU campus. Some of the facilities include, single crystal floating zone growth, Bridgman crystal growth stations, a 14T, 50 mK Quantum Dynamics PPMS, a low temperature XRD, a Laue backscattering, and state-of-the-art cleanroom fabrication systems.
The appointment is for 2 years if hired by September 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD degree in physics, optical engineering, or similar discipline related to research. The Center for Bioelectronics at Old Dominion University is seeking outstanding candidates for a post-doctoral researchassociate position with a focus on biosensor and bioelectronics device prototype development. This position is a non-permanent appointment, renewable each year up to a max of two years. The candidate will make key contributions to process development for organic materials integration (polymeric/ composite materials and molecularly imprinted polymers) to integrate sensors and bioelectronic devices. The candidate will be responsible for designing, documenting, and implementing materials synthesis techniques pertaining to polymeric films, "smart" materials exhibiting multi-functionality, the design, development, and prototyping of biosensors and bioelectronic devices, and circuit design of wireless implantable and wearable devices. In addition, the qualified individual will play a key role in evaluating aging and compatibility of novel materials for implantable and wearable applications in broad collaboration with other researchers in the lab. Finally, the candidate is expected to serve as a mentor for technicians and students.

A Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials/Polymer Science, Chemistry, Materials Engineering, or a related field is required.
Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
Expertise in biomedical device (biosensor) prototype development, with working knowledge of FDA 510(k) requirements.
Deep technical skills and knowledge of developing novel biosensor diagnostics and therapeutic devices using principles, materials, and structures that are implantable and wearable.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, as evidenced by a strong academic publication record and presentations at national conferences in a specific technical area.
Ability to work on multiple projects with established deliverables, milestones, timelines and requirements.
Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, chemists, materials scientists, etc.
A solid background in principles of electrical circuits and microfabrication processes.
Experience with wearable and implantable sensor development, and other circuit development techniques.
Understand the basic processing, properties and mechanics of soft materials.
Experience with technical writing in the form of manuscripts, reports, standard operating procedures, and other documentation related to research, process development and associated specifications.
Experience in working with Biosafety Level-2 (BSL-2), proficiency in standard cell- and molecular-biological techniques, and real-time imaging of biosensors.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous postdoctoral research experience and/or experience in the biomedical device industry is preferred.
