C2N Diagnostics, a St. Louis based biotechnology company focused on discovering therapeutics and diagnostics for neurodegenerative conditions, is looking for an Analytical Mass Spectrometry Scientist.
C2N Diagnostics focuses its therapeutic discovery and development efforts around mechanism-based approaches to prevent or stop the progression of human neurological disorders. Its diagnostic efforts revolve around bringing accurate, widely accessible, and cost-effective blood tests to the clinic for the betterment of patient care and brain health monitoring. C2N's Precivity tests are innovative prescription-only blood tests intended for use in individuals experiencing cognitive impairment. The Precivity tests help physicians better determine the presence or absence of amyloid plaques in the brain, a hallmark sign of Alzheimer's Disease. C2N currently operates two state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in St. Louis, Missouri. This position is onsite at one of C2N's facilities in St. Louis.

Responsibilities
Develop, implement and routinely perform biological sample preparation workflows and LC-MS/MS analyses for quantifying and characterizing blood-based biomarkers of neurodegeneration.
Duties
Convert laboratory developed tests into analytically validated (CLIA, FDA, ISO) in vitro diagnostic biomarker tests used for research, clinical trials, and clinical diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders.
Draft, implement and continuously evaluate sample preparation and analysis protocols/SOPs for detecting, identifying, and quantifying peptides/proteins and other biomolecules in human blood samples.
Maintain and operate LC, LC-MS, automated liquid handlers, LIMS, and related laboratory equipment
Supervise medical technologists and routinely prepare and perform sample analyses for clients
Comply with established laboratory regulations, standards, policies, protocols, processes, procedures, and plans. Adapt to changes in these regulations and standards as they are announced
Assist with sample accessioning, quality control, process improvement, equipment maintenance, proficiency/competency training standards and schedules
Report to Sr Director of Clinical Chemistry and Commercial Assays

Your role:
At MilliporeSigma the Scientist I, Research Solutions will support the SMC™ Single-plex Assay Development Team. He/she will be working independently to develop immunoassays for use on MilliporeSigma SMC™ Immunoassay platform. Job Description
Independent planning, execution, and analysis of experiments to identify excipients that can enhance enzyme stability in dried enzyme formulations.
Design and execution of experiments targeted towards improving upon the consistency of dried formulations.
Initiation and management of studies aimed to determine longevity of target actives within experimental formulations under various environmental conditions.
Identification of key takeaways from performed experiments that guide decision-making and/or inspire action.
Efficiently communicate research concepts and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in the development and amendment of study protocols and data collection tools.
Maintain detailed laboratory records and samples in an organized manner.

Required Experience

We are searching for a dedicated, forward-thinking researcher with a background in one or more of the following areas of focus: plant systematics, taxonomy, conservation, and restoration ecology. The successful candidate will leverage MBG's strengths and build new initiatives to advance science in support of our mission to understand and protect plant diversity in Latin America.
The ideal candidate will develop a robust collaborative research program and be eager to bridge their science with conservation or restoration practice. The scientist's research may focus on plant groups well represented in MBG's herbarium or in regions where MBG is actively engaged in Latin America. Preference will be given to candidates whose work targets the Tropical Andes.
