Position Summary
This recruitment will fill multiple part‑time (8-20 hours per week) Research Assistant positions in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University. The employees will assist in data analyses, engineering developments, and field work to support Dr. Jonathan Nash's Nash Research Lab in Corvallis, OR.
The research team studies ocean mixing dynamics in a variety of environments ranging from the open ocean to glacier faces. The project depends on developing and deploying autonomous craft (surface and underwater) carrying oceanographic instrumentation, and analyzing data collected by these instruments.
Students will assist with the development of autonomous craft and sensor systems and will work as part of a small dedicated team.
Position Duties
70% Data analyses and Engineering Support:
Analyze physical ocean and ice data using MATLAB or Python; help design, manufacture, and test electronic and mechanical sensors and components, including board and hardware assembly, testing for sea use, and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
20% Meetings and Documentation:
Participate in and contribute to weekly meetings.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation on electronics and robotics systems.
May participate in short local field tests (e.g., one‑day Oregon Coast trips) and/orresearch cruises up to 3 weeks long during summer terms.
Be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university; pursuing a program or course of study.
Maintain Academic Standing; students on academic suspension are not eligible.
Meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:
High School: regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program.
Undergraduate/Post‑baccalaureate: 6 credit hours per term.
Undergraduate international: 12 credit hours per term.
Graduate: 5 credit hours per term.
Graduate international: 9 credit hours per term.
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The Environmental and Natural Resources Law Center (ENR) is a national leader in public interest environmental law and policy and innovations in environmental legal education. ENR pioneered the earliest curriculum in public interest environmental law, created the first environmental law clinic in the United States, and, through its students, hosts the oldest and largest public interest environmental law conference of its kind in the world.

* Conduct campus-wide needs assessment and SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats) analyses to evaluate and improve research impact.
* Develop recommendations for aligning OSU practices with established research impact assessment protocols.
* Engage campus stakeholders across university colleges, centers, institutes, and central administration in assessment planning; establish systems to share information, incorporate feedback, and gain buy-in for a campus-wide research impact assessment plan.

Position Summary
The Biology Department seeks to create a pool of applicants interested in available research positions in biological sciences. Positions are a limited duration, funding-contingent postdoctoral orresearch assistant/associate appointments that may be full-time, part-time, or short term, with initial duration not to exceed one year. There may be a possibility of renewal up to a total of three years, depending on program needs, funding, and performance.
Research Assistant positions will conduct research under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI). ResearchAssociate positions will conduct research with only general guidance from the PI.
