The Scientist will play a critical role in helping to develop a “Next” Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) instrument specifically designed for clinical medicine. Present methods for high-throughput sequencing are not suitable for many clinical applications, as all current NGS platforms lack the combination of high accuracy, rapid turnaround time, and low cost that would lead to robust clinical utility. In collaboration with academic and industry scientists across the country, Digital Biotechnologies is engineering the first solid-state sequencer with the specifications necessary for a widely applicable clinical sequencing instrument. JOB SUMMARY:
The Research Chemist will directly assist a Senior Chemist with research projects, focusing on chitin and chitosan biopolymer chemistry, and including polymer synthesis and modification. The Research Chemist will be responsible for preparing experimental recipes and following experimental strategies as directed by the Senior Chemist, as well as performing chemical analysis. The position will also participate in experimental strategy sessions, project reviews, and directed and self-directed literature reviews.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Prepare experimental recipes as directed by the Senior Chemist
Follow experimental strategies and designs as directed by the Senior Chemist
Perform chemical analysis at the direction of the Senior Chemist or the analytical chemistry team

Incumbent will be responsible for managing Yakama Nation's wetland refuges, and to acquire, manage, restore, and monitor all properties. Incumbent will supervise supporting biologists and field staff to meet the goals of the Lower Yakima Valley Riparian Wetlands Restoration Project. Responsibilities include preparing land management plans for all Project-funded properties, directing field staff to carry out plans and assists with equipment purchases and repairs. Determine enhancement and monitoring priorities and compiling annual and quarterly status reports. Incumbent will work with the Wildlife Realty Specialist to ensure all agreements concerning the properties are current and in compliance with applicable resolutions and will coordinate with the Program Manager and other Tribal staff to identify and acquire high-value habitat parcels.
