The Biostatistician II is responsible for collaborating with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (SRAlab) researchers on the analysis of clinical, epidemiological, health services, and basic science projects. The Biostatistician is responsible for data management and analysis; querying, extracting, managing and analyzing multiple, complex datasets; ensuring data integrity, quality, and timeliness of results; and overseeing the deployment of reporting and analytical solutions. Principal Responsibilities


Manages and plans for data/analysis requests and projects. Provides consultation to investigators on appropriate data management, methodological issues and statistical analyses. Assists in development of statistical analysis plans for grant proposals. Develops and maintains documentation of process for quality assurance and reporting methodology. Cleans, organizes and performs quality control (QC) of data in preparation for analysis. Prepares and edits data summaries of data analyses. Drafts sections of funding applications pertaining to statistical analyses, power analyses, effect size computations. Interprets results and writes reports (prepares tables, figures, and graphs for publications and presentations). Teaches statistical analysis and epidemiologic methods skills to trainees (primarily graduate students and residents). Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex statistical analysis. Performs range, logic and consistency checks, reporting errors when necessary. Prepares analysis programs and reports to monitor data accrual and quality. Develops and documents standards for data quality and regulatory compliance pertaining to reporting. Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations. May supervise a Biostatistician I and research assistants in completing data management, analysis, and reporting tasks. Midwestern University research biostatistician job description

The successful candidate will report directly to the Manager of Bio Clinical Statistics in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs but will also work with, and under the direction of, the Public Health Program Director for the design, development, and delivery of biostatistics curriculum in the Public Health Program in the College of Graduate Studies. The individual will spend approximately 50% of effort providing statistical support to assist faculty in the design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of biomedical and clinical research throughout Midwestern University (MWU) and MWU Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institute (OPTI). The other 50% of effort will be spent contributing to the development and instruction of online and traditional courses in biostatistics and related subjects, and advising students on public health capstone projects within a newly established Master of Public Health (MPH) program in the MWU College of Graduate Studies.
Duties and Responsibilities

Academic responsibilities:

+ Participates actively in teaching in the Public Health program in accordance with the area of expertise: biostatistics and related subjects as assigned. Participation will be as a co-instructor in team-taught courses.

+ Develops or contributes substantively to the content and assessment of online and/or traditional courses in biostatistics, research design and methods, and similar subject matter.

+ Works with, and under the direction of, the MWU Manager of Bio Clinical Statistics and the Program Director of Public Health for the design, development and delivery of Biostatistics and related curriculum in the Public Health Program.

+ Devotes up to 50% of time and effort on activities associated with the MPH Program, including primary instruction, student advising and mentoring, and assistance in student research and service projects that impact the MPH Program and its students. + As appropriate and with approval, contributes to academic instruction in other Midwestern University healthcare education program(s) via joint adjunct faculty appointment.
