Our research group is focused on developing state-of-the-art computational methods for ligand/drug discovery, using machine learning, high-performance/cloud computing, and quantum chemistry and quantum computing. Our group also includes a wet lab dedicated to experimentally verifying the computationally predicted results in real-world drug discovery projects. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoc with deep expertise in machine learning and deep learning. You will join an interdisciplinary team to push the boundaries of what's possible at the intersection of artificial intelligence and molecular modeling, building novel AI systems to advance discovery in chemistry, ligand discovery, and quantum approaches. The Department of Earth and Environmental Systems at the University of the South invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in mineral physics to begin on July 1st, 2026. The fellow will participate in high-pressure mineral physics research and mentor undergraduate researchers. Additionally, the postdoctoral fellow will teach a reduced course load as the instructor of record (see Description below). This hybrid position was envisioned as providing the opportunity to gain teaching experience and explore the unique opportunities of working in a liberal arts college while enabling the fellow to maintain the research productivity necessary to stay competitive across the job market. Position Appointment Details: * 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship Position Description: The postdoctoral fellow will participate in experimental and computational high-pressure research efforts commensurate with their experience, including high-pressure diamond anvil cell experiments (X-ray diffraction and FTIR spectroscopy) and ab initio calculations using Quantum ESPRESSO, with the expectation of contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
