The PhD Research Associate is responsible for developing impactful, sustainable research program in collaboration with core faculty, residents, and hospital network to advance knowledge and implementation of practices especially pertaining to acute emergent conditions particularly in vulnerable populations. The position applies expertise in implementation science, epidemiology, biostatistics, emergency and health policy, health education and related fields to generate evidence that informs clinical decisions in emergency medicine and improves health outcomes in emergency services. The IES Research Institute is an academic research division embedded within the Emergency Medicine Department at John Peter Smith (JPS) Health Network, a public safety-net health system with a 3-year emergency medicine residency program. The Levi lab's mission is to improve the lives of people living with skin and musculoskeletal injuries and diseases through rigorous science and compassion. Current projects in the Levi laboratory are related to optical imaging of skin and burn wounds. The laboratory integrates near-infrared, short wave infrared and visible spectrum imaging approaches to assess tissue viability in pig models and in human patients. Your Job: The Nurse Research Coordinator role performs advanced-level research coordination to support IRB-approved clinical research across Methodist Health System and its affiliates. In addition to customary research coordination activities, the Nurse Research Coordinator, under the direction of the principal investigator, will perform study-related assessments and procedures, such as: physical examinations, transient elastography (TE), electrocardiogram (ECG) infusion therapy, phlebotomy, and administer medications as outlined in the research protocol.
