Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Veterans Outcome Assessment (VOA):Annual assessments on symptoms, functioning, well-being, and experience of care from veterans starting a new mental health outpatient program, reassessed after three months.
Satisfaction Surveys:Data from veterans on their satisfaction with VA and non-VA mental health care and experiences of care.
Clinical Templates:Data from national templates such as evidence-based psychotherapies, records of suicide and overdose events, intensity levels for community-based care, and services provided during treatment.
Performance Measures:Facility-level data from Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning measures and other measures within the Mental Health Information System, a collection of over 100 measures characterizing mental health treatment in the VA.
NEPEC Data:Data collected by the Northeastern Program Evaluation Center or other VA program evaluation centers for program monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Examine and analyze data across differences in target conditions, care intensity, medical and mental health comorbidities, demographics, and sex differences.
Identify and address gaps in data quality and integrity, cleanse and manipulate data as necessary to ensure valid, reliable analysis.
Review and validate analytical data sets to ensure they meet statistical validity and quality standards.

This is a full-time position based in our regional office located in Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model.
Reporting to the Director of Research Science, the Research Scientist II will design and implement major investigator-initiated health services and epidemiology-related research projects in the area of infectious diseases. You will also secure external funding through federal, foundation, or industry grants, and disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. The Research Scientist II may contribute to intramural projects relevant to MAPRI and MAPMG, providing assistance as needed for study design, analysis plans, and interpretation of results. Please note, this is not a basic research or bench science position.
You can expect to:
Develop an innovative research portfolio in infectious disease healthcare delivery and outcomes, working both independently and in collaboration with external partners, leveraging Kaiser Permanente's extensive clinical data
Prepare and submit grant proposals and secure extramural research funding, aiming to achieve funding for 75-80% of annual effort within five years.
Initiate and maintain collaborations with external partners, including federal agencies, other Kaiser Permanente regions, research networks, and academic or healthcare system partners.
Publish one to two first-author papers and one to two collaborative papers annually, and present research findings (poster or oral) at national scientific meetings.
Collaborate with MAPRI research teams (data analysts, project managers, and biostatisticians), leading research studies and ensuring they are completed successfully
Mentor MAPMG staff, physician researchers, and research interns.
Contribute to the scientific community through being a peer reviewer for journals (at least two per year) and participating in expert or grant review panels.
What is required:
MD/DO with an additional advanced research degree (e.g., MPH, MAS, MS, PhD) OR a PhD or equivalent degree in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Nursing, or related discipline is required
Extensive experience in infectious disease research
Minimum of seven (7) years of post-doctoral research experience in epidemiology, health services research, or related field is required; experience in a health system research setting preferred
Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
Demonstrated ability to design and lead simultaneous original research studies and publish results.
Successful track record of extramural grant funding as Principal Investigator

We seek a highly motivated individual to join our protein engineering, vector development, CAR-T, CAR- NK, and TCR-T programs at our Gaithersburg, Maryland site. This position has both exploratory and development goals feeding into the advancement of next-generation cell therapy. Specifically, the group member will develop analytical pipelines necessary for analyzing large published and in-house generated next-generation sequencing datasets. The position will report to the group leader. The role interfaces with other research teams engaged in molecular biology, cell biology, high throughput screening methods, and early process development to address critical issues, relevant ideas, and unmet needs from a clinical perspective for renewed discovery and analytical efforts. The unique responsibility allows you to become a subject matter expert in novel technologies in Cell and Gene therapy and make valuable contributions to developing cutting-edge immunotherapy products to benefit human health.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development of infrastructure, pipelines, and algorithms for analyzing large datasets, including WGS, WES, RNA-Seq, TCR and BCR-Seq, and single-cell omics.
Work with lab scientists to develop in-house data analysis tools for R&D purposes.
Exploration of published datasets for tumor target antigen discovery for CAR and TCR pipeline.
Work with laboratory scientists to establish targeting strategy and validation workflow.
Develop cutting-edge analytical tools for T cell and NK cell fitness improvement projects, and prediction models, including application of AI.
Biomarker discovery.
Participate in technical meetings, drive development activities, and present data findings to colleagues and external collaborators.
Development of AI workflows.

Requirements:
Ph.D in Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Computational Science, Immunology or Virology or related field of biomedicine with computational experience in the field of (tumor) immunology, preferably in T cell immunology; 2+ years of bioinformatics experience and/or training.
Hands-on experience or a thorough understanding in any of the following areas is a plus: flow cytometry cell sorting, molecular biology (in particular, single-cell based PCR methods such as droplet-PCR), tumor animal models, genetic screens with immune cells, cell purification methods (e.g., MACS).
Experience in cutting-edge single-cell technologies (such as 10x Chromium), library screening approach is a plus.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of the development, execution, and improvement of analysis pipelines for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) services. The individual may also execute collaborative projects with external researchers and join the customer facing discussion. This role will contribute to growing, coaching, and aligning the team towards the shared vision of delivering high quality data analysis for our customers.
This role is an on-site position in Rockville, MD
Key Responsibilities
● Generate analytical pipelines and perform data analysis using the Illumina Dragen suite.
● Perform bioinformatic analyses on NGS data, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the dataset and conduct quality control assessments of NGS data, adhering to industry standards and company protocols
● Develop and maintain reproducible NGS data analysis pipelines in the AWS environment, ensuring the reliability and scalability of workflows.
● Develop HTML-based data analysis reports for customers, summarizing and visualizing raw and analyzed datasets.
● Supervise bioinformatics team members, including task delegation, performance evaluation, and continuous professional development of junior team members.
● Support research projects, including managing large amounts of data, monitoring, and running the developed pipelines.
● Generate the documentation related to the pipelines (Reports, README, etc).
● Stay abreast of current developments in public bioinformatics tools, pipelines and databases.
● Participation in customer-facing discussions with field application scientists to support business development/customer services activities.
● Planning and writing various ad-hoc scripts and visualization scripts to analyze specific data and interpret results.
● Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions while resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways.
● Research independently within a team environment to develop and improve genomics analysis solutions.
Qualifications
● Junior Level: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
● Senior Level: Master's degree with 3+ years of industry experience OR a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biology, Genetics, or a similar field.
● Strong knowledge and proficiency in Bash, R, Python, and other relevant programming languages for bioinformatics pipeline development.
● Proficiency in NextFlow is highly preferred and other workflow languages are a plus.
● Experience operating the Illumina DRAGEN package from command line or web-based UI is a plus.
● Advanced experience working with Linux environments and familiarity with HPC systems for large-scale NGS data analysis.
● Experience using bioinformatics tools and familiarity with genomics databases.
● Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills for team work.
● Ability to work as part of a team and with external collaborators.

The Business Process Reengineering and Operations Research & Systems Analysis (ORSA) Specialist is a critical advisor and subject matter expert who leverages expertise in both process improvement methodologies and ORSA to optimize DASADEC's operations and strategic decision-making within the Army Security Assistance Enterprise (ASAE). This role focuses on driving efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness in support of U.S. Army Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Security Cooperation programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Process Reengineering:
Lead BPR Initiatives: Spearhead the analysis, redesign, and implementation of critical business processes within DASADEC and across the ASAE, utilizing methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce redundancy, and enhance overall efficiency.
Facilitate Process Mapping and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive process mapping exercises to visually represent current workflows, identify areas for improvement, and develop streamlined future-state processes.
Develop and Implement Standardized Procedures: Establish and document standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and process guidelines to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance across all DASADEC functions.
Change Management and Training: Lead change management initiatives related to process improvement projects, providing training and support to DASADEC personnel to ensure successful adoption of new processes.
Operations Research & Systems Analysis:
Conduct Complex Data Analysis: Apply advanced statistical analysis, modeling, and simulation techniques to analyze large datasets related to security assistance programs, identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Develop Quantitative Models: Design and build mathematical models to simulate and evaluate the impact of proposed policy changes, resource allocation decisions, and process improvements on DASADEC's overall performance.
Execute FMS Performance Reviews: Conduct recurring FMS performance reports, prepare for and manage recurring performance review forums, and conduct root cause analysis deep dive analytics to diagnose key drivers of performance challenges
Provide Data-Driven Recommendations: Present findings and recommendations based on ORSA analyses to senior leadership, providing actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making related to security cooperation programs.
Stay Abreast of ORSA Advancements: Continuously research and remain current on the latest developments in ORSA methodologies, tools, and technologies to ensure the application of cutting-edge techniques within DASADEC.
Advisory and Consultative Role:
Advise Senior Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to high-level managers within DASADEC, providing expert guidance on the application of quantitative approaches to solve complex problems and improve decision-making.
Consult with Internal Stakeholders: Act as a consultant to various branches and directorates within DASADEC, offering expertise in process improvement, data analysis, and ORSA to support their specific needs.
Collaborate with External Partners: Liaise with external stakeholders, including other government agencies and international partners, to share best practices, coordinate efforts, and enhance interoperability in security assistance operations.
Required Qualifications:
BPR Expertise: Proven experience leading and implementing successful business process reengineering (BPR) projects, preferably within a government or defense context.
ORSA Proficiency: Strong understanding of and practical experience applying operations research and systems analysis (ORSA) techniques, including statistical modeling, simulation, and optimization.
Data Analysis Skills: Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with the ability to manipulate and interpret large datasets to extract meaningful insights.
