Reporting to the Director of Research Science, the Research Scientist II will design and implement major investigator-initiated health services and epidemiology-related research projects in the area of infectious diseases. You can expect to:
Develop an innovative research portfolio in infectious disease healthcare delivery and outcomes, working both independently and in collaboration with external partners, leveraging Kaiser Permanente's extensive clinical data
Prepare and submit grant proposals and secure extramural research funding, aiming to achieve funding for 75-80% of annual effort within five years.
Initiate and maintain collaborations with external partners, including federal agencies, other Kaiser Permanente regions, research networks, and academic or healthcare system partners.
Publish one to two first-author papers and one to two collaborative papers annually, and present research findings (poster or oral) at national scientific meetings.
Collaborate with MAPRI research teams (data analysts, project managers, and biostatisticians), leading research studies and ensuring they are completed successfully
Mentor MAPMG staff, physician researchers, and research interns.
Contribute to the scientific community through being a peer reviewer for journals (at least two per year) and participating in expert or grant review panels.
What is required:
MD/DO with an additional advanced research degree (e.g., MPH, MAS, MS, PhD) OR a PhD or equivalent degree in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Nursing, or related discipline is required
Extensive experience in infectious disease research

Based in downtown Washington, D.C., the Foundation for Defense of Democracies has a number of internship opportunities available. This position will involve working within CAM-STAR and MT2EC Laboratory on a Department of Defense (DoD) sponsored project regarding understanding the processing-microstructure-property relationships of additively manufactured parts during direct metal laser sintering processes through multi-scale modeling and experimental characterization. The Postdoctoral Associate's responsibilities include but are not limited to: conducting experiments and collecting data, analyzing data, develop simulation models and identify algorithms, performing statistical analyses, preparing manuscripts and conference presentations, assisting the PI to prepare project reports, and other tasks. Job Description
The Free the Slaves internship program is a formal effort to develop and train future leaders of the anti-slavery movement. We seek to provide each participant with training and hands-on experience in various facets of anti-slavery programming. We encourage students to arrange academic credit as Free the Slaves internships offer direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization and close supervision by FTS staff. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements. In addition, interns are provided with a one-time stipend after the end of their internship.
This position reports directly to the Research Program Coordinator, based in Washington, D.C. The Research Intern will support programming in the Middle East and North Africa region through research. This role involves strategic thinking, passion for the FTS mission, and the ability to thoroughly research complex and interconnected themes. The internship can take place remotely and can be full-time or part-time.
Key Responsibilities
Collect secondary research on the state of modern slavery in the Middle East and North Africa region, focusing on prevalence, challenges, gaps, and opportunities to strengthen the response in the region.
Create databases hosting secondary data and clean and organize the data collected.
Analyze secondary data into relevant themes and identify key recommendations and reflections.
Design tools for the organization and visualization of research findings.
Write literature reviews, concept notes, blog posts, or other outputs.
Present research findings to the Research Program Coordinator and the MENA Regional Manager.
Participate in brainstorming sessions with members of the team.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
Be either currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited college or university as a degree-seeking student.
Have a demonstrated history of excellence in their studies and will be in pursuit of, or a recipient of, a degree within the following fields: law, public policy, international relations or affairs, international development, human rights or another relevant field.
Be fluent in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
Have a demonstrated history of interest and/or involvement in the anti-slavery or human rights movement.
Be familiar with and possess prior experience engaging with research methodologies, particularly collecting, analyzing, and consolidating secondary data.
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as a functioning knowledge of word processing with Microsoft Word.

Molecular Research Technician I Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology preferred, not required
Proficiency with whole-genome sequencing of bacterial samples
Foundational-level experience in the extraction of bacterial DNA and in the construction of DNA sequencing libraries.
Foundational-level experience in the operation and maintenance of next-generation sequencing platforms, including instruments from Illumina and Oxford Nanopore
Foundational-level experience in the operation and maintenance of liquid handlers, including but not limited to Hamilton liquid handlers

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA Agricultural
Research Service (ARS). These experienced professionals provide administrative,
scientific, and technical support to the Agricultural Research Service through
the Experienced Worker Program (EWP).

temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is
an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate

Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in laboratory research. OR BA/BS Degree in
Biological or Natural Sciences.

Duties:
The enrollee will provide support associated with research performed at the
location, including performing technical duties and collecting and maintaining
accurate records of data. The enrollee shall not sign federal documents,
authorize the use of federal funds, nor initiate or conduct federally funded

Health and Safety Considerations: The Safety and Occupational Health

Physical requirements: The work requires some physical exertion, such as
regular and recurring walking or bending. In many situations the duration of the
activity (such as most of a workday) contributes to the arduous nature of the
job. In other situations, such as in a laboratory, there may be special
requirements for agility or dexterity such as exceptional hand/eye coordination.

Research Technician IV, Brain Tumor Institute - (250002V8) Description The Research Technician IV conducts research under the direction of a principal investigator. The RT-IV works on independent projects, designs studies, collects and analyzes data and reports results.
This position is responsible for coordinating multiple research studies as well as the analytical, administrative and supervisory functions necessary to manage the department's research programs.
The RT-IV directs research technicians, assistants and medical students, and assists post-doctoral fellows with their research.
