The project involves techniques such as biochemistry, molecular biology, yeast cell culture, enzymology and biophysical methods, and will have the opportunity to expose to state-of-the-art techniques.

A Post Doc position is available in the Davis College Water Center at Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX). The research focus is on different aspects related to irrigation management and water conservation using sensors. The position requires a wide range of knowledge and skills that cover aspects related to small plot research to carry out hypothesis-based research, test and standardize tools and approaches to conserve water, working experience in using ground and aerial remote sensing systems to develop innovative means to increase water productivity in the region.
Major responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Develop new tools or methods for enhancing water conservation both in small-scale research plots and also on producer fields by integrating ground and aerial-based sensing systems
- Involve actively in extending new and innovative technology tested on research plots to producer fields across a wide range of cropping and water management systems, in different counties in west Texas
- Lead the establishment of a sensor-based demonstration bub for comparing different sensor commercial technologies including eddy covariance tower on research/producer plot and deploy selected technology on producer fields across west Texas
- Develop into a point of contact to deal with incoming data, data analysis and interpretation and reporting based on information generated from the demonstration hub and shared by producers as a part of the TAWC (Texas Alliance for Water Conservation) network, and work with the colleagues in the economic department and help in developing budgets based on the same dataset received by the producers
- Involved actively in data analysis, interpretation and developing peer reviewed publications, draft project reports and participate in developing proposals related to water conservation

Contributes to the university's mission through research and service. **Requisition ID:** 39262BR **Travel Required:** Up to 25% **Major/Essential Functions:** The Tran lab's research broadly focuses on regulatory network and crosstalk among signaling molecules in plant responses to environmental stresses, as well as translational genomics for improvement of crop productivity to face the accelerating threat of global climate change. We seek a postdoctoral candidate with a strong grounding in molecular biology, genetic engineering, data analysis, and plant physiology. The research scientist will lead the projects associated with molecular cloning, chemical biology, translational genomics for improvement of environmental stress resistance using cotton, sorghum and soybean. The criteria for the selection of the candidate include a strong track record, good grant writing skill, a high motivation to design and work on the project, a proven expertise on molecular biology, transcriptomics, metabolomics, large-scale data analysis, and good communication skills. The successful incumbent is expected to supervise PhD students and provide training on proper research techniques and methods related to specific projects. The position is initially for one-year.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
- 2 years of related post PhD research experience or equivalent.
- Ph.D. in plant biology, plant physiology, plant molecular biology, plant and environmental science or related field with strong experience and interest in abiotic stress.
- Advanced experience in molecular biology, plant physiology, plant transformation, and transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis.
- Proven cross-disciplinary research experience, scientific writing ability and communication skills.
- Research experience on chemical biology, western blotting and molecular cloning is an advantage.
