This dual-focus fellowship provides access to cutting-edge laboratory facilities, field opportunities, and rich datasets to address urgent questions in pathogen transmission, microbiome ecology, and molecular pathogenesis.
Key Responsibilities
Design and conduct microbiome analyses on
Amblyomma variegatum
ticks, including field collection, dissection, and genomic sequencing.
Perform long-read sequencing, genome assembly, and bioinformatic analysis of
T. tenax
.
Analyze proteome and transcriptome data, including exosome characterization and cysteine protease identification.
Prepare and submit a minimum of 4 peer-reviewed manuscripts over the 2-year term (two per project).
Present findings at national and international scientific conferences.
Lead and contribute to intramural and extramural grant applications.
Supervise and mentor MSc, PhD, and DVM research students and volunteers.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
Willing to relocate to St Kitts for this in-person role.
PhD in one or more of the following areas: molecular biology, microbiology, bioinformatics, parasitology, genetics, cell biology, or related fields.
Demonstrated expertise in genomics, proteomics, and/or microbiome analysis.
Proven track record of research productivity (publications, conference presentations).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the science and prediction of Atlantic tropical cyclones on subseasonal timescales (2 weeks to 3 months). The project will focus on identifying and quantifying key sources of predictability-including climate modes of tropical variability such as the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) and El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-and leveraging statistical (e.g., Analog) and machine learning techniques (in particular neural networks), to develop subseasonal hurricane forecast models improve predictive models.

Work independently, manage research projects and work in teams towards executing the initiatives of the Manager of R&D and the research team
Generate ideas that will enhance existing products and lead to the development of new products, test procedures and protocols.
Develop investigative work resolving associated technical issues on products and projects

Represent Polyglass USA at key industry meetings and technical conferences.
Manage technical business support for current products including raw material qualification, benchmarking of competitive materials and product/system testing internally and at external laboratories.
Publish reports and conduct technical presentations at regular intervals on key projects.
Advance the technology in building products & systems to improve performance, reduce total installed cost and established sustained competitive advantage.
Assist in training new R&D scientists and technicians as needed and as directed by the Manager of R&D.

Requirements:
Experience in the development of new products for roofing and waterproofing applications, as membranes, underlayment, above and below grade waterproofing membranes, air and vapor barriers, and synthetic adhesives
Working knowledge of roofing and waterproofing membrane systems codes and industry standards
Experience developing product from the lab, through scale-up and to the final launch
Knowledge of material science, rheology, viscoelasticity and solid mechanics.
Lab experience working with analytical and mechanical instruments for polymers and membranes characterization like: DMA, TMA, DSC, DSR, FTIR, TGA, Universal testing machine, etc.

The successful candidate will evaluate the cellular and molecular mechanism by which TET2 mutations lead to myeloid malignancies using various Tet2-deficient (constitutive and conditional) and Tet2 transgenic (WT, catalytic inactive and truncated Tet2) mouse models.
Qualifications
Qualified applicant should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry or related fields, and preferably have experience working with hematopoiesis and mouse models of cancer. Applicants with experience in stem cell biology or who are familiar with bioinformatic tools (particularly next generation sequencing data analysis) are encouraged to apply. The ideal applicant is a goal oriented, pro-active and hardworking individual with excellent organizational skills who is passionate about making a difference in cancer research. The Role
We are seeking exceptional PhD candidates to join our Quantitative Research teams in the Miami metro area where they will work with other researchers and developers on various research projects, including the design of novel predictive signals and the enhancement of our algorithms for prediction, trade execution, portfolio construction, risk management, among others. Interns will have an opportunity to meaningfully contribute to all facets of running a successful quantitative trading business and help it grow and diversify.
What you'll do
Depending on the portfolio manager team you join, as a Quantitative Researcher Intern you will be directly responsible for furthering our alpha research. You will understand the economics of a fundamental domain, and the corresponding insights that can be gathered from associated alternative data offerings. You will identify compelling differentiating factors, design novel predictive signals, backtest & validate hypotheses. Over the 10-week internship program, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with senior team members to learn what it takes to be a successful quantitative researcher. Additionally, you'll get the opportunity to network and socialize with peers throughout the internship.
What you need:
Current PhD student in a quantitative or technical field such as statistics, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or computer science (ideally with one year left in your academic program)
Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, SQL, or R
Strong knowledge of probability and statistics (e.g., machine learning, time-series analysis and forecasting, pattern recognition, NLP).
The ability to communicate research ideas clearly and succinctly

Essential Job Functions:
1. Under the direct supervision of faculty and in collaboration with experienced former research assistants, the employee will perform detailed dissections on human specimens, assist in the preparation and maintenance of materials, and document observations and findings.
2. Assists in the conduct of research, including the collection of information and samples.
3. Analyzes and processes laboratory samples or research data.
4. Keeps detailed logs of all work-related activities.
5. Uses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics or high-technology industrial applications to perform work duties as needed.
