Specifically, the candidate will perform science research at the laboratory scale in the area of heterogeneous catalysis. Methanol synthesis is a primary focus, but other reactions may also apply. Experience with the use of laboratory scale catalyst characterization techniques, and the interpretation of that data, is highly desired along with a demonstrated publication record. Examples of conventional experiments the researcher will utilize are reaction characterization in a plug flow reactor, chemisorption, BET, thermogravimetric analysis, and mass spectrometry. While not required, experience with FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis, and operando spectroscopy will be valuable.
Responsibilities Include:
Catalyst characterization using both conventional and advanced transient kinetic techniques, data analysis, and data interpretation at the direction of the INL mentor.
You will be expected to learn new experimental techniques and data analysis methods that are unique to the Catalysis and Transient Kinetics group; in particular the Temporal Analysis of Products reactor.
You must demonstrate the ability to identify and address complex problems creatively and independently.
At the same time you will be working in collaboration with other researchers to develop new concepts and technologies and must be able to function as part of a larger team.

The Environmental and Natural Resources Law Center (ENR) is a national leader in public interest environmental law and policy and innovations in environmental legal education. * Study the microstructure of newly developed materials and environmental degradation of novel materials produced using mechanical (fracture mechanics) as well as other advanced characterization technique
* Conduct research into the underlying mechanisms behind the microstructural evolution and degradation of materials subjected to extreme environments
* Perform thermodynamic modeling to understand effect of compositional and processing condition changes on the equilibrium state of the material systems
The position will allow significant interaction with researchers with varying backgrounds and additional opportunities for professional development. A background/experience in ceramic processing, phase transformation, microstructural characterization, mechanical properties, and thermodynamic calculations is required.
Minimum Requirements:
* PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Science, or other related and relevant discipline. PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years of graduation.
* Knowledge of ceramic materials, ceramic processing, sintering, and complex phase diagrams required.
* Understanding of materials performance issues for materials under extreme environments is required.
* Prior publications in high impact journals with microstructure characterization is required.
* Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
* Strong asset to our interdisciplinary R&D team and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
* Self-motivated, but also works collaboratively with peers and multi-disciplinary teams.
* Fluency in the English language and excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Proficient in the fundamental knowledge and hands-on operation of EBSD, EDS, XRD.
* Experience with TEM preferred but not required.
* Understanding of mechanical properties such as tensile, creep, fatigue, and Charpy-V notch toughness.

Position Summary
The Environmental and Natural Resources Law Center is seeking to hire a Research Associate to carry out dynamic research related to climate change legal and policy solutions.
The Environmental and Natural Resources Law Center (ENR) is a national leader in public interest environmental law and policy and innovations in environmental legal education. ENR pioneered the earliest curriculum in public interest environmental law, created the first environmental law clinic in the United States, and, through its students, hosts the oldest and largest public interest environmental law conference of its kind in the world.
ENR's Interdisciplinary Research Projects and Fellows Program has theme-based projects that draw upon existing faculty strengths and provide synergistic opportunities for promoting student experience, providing service to the community, and bringing intellectual energy to bear on some of today's most challenging environmental issues.
As part of a research team, ENR's Research Associates carry out research housed in one or more of the flagship ENR interdisciplinary projects: The Conservation Trust Project; The Energy Law and Policy Project; The Food Resiliency Project; The Global Environmental Democracy Project; The Native Environmental Sovereignty Project; The Oceans, Coasts, and Watersheds Project; and The Sustainable Land Use Project.

The Environmental and Natural Resources Law Research Associate reports to the ENR Center Executive Director.

Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells Postdoctoral Researcher - (23638) Description Idaho National Laboratory is hiring one or more postdoctoral researchers in the hydrogen and electrochemistry department to perform laboratory experiments for solid oxide cells at elevated temperatures, reporting to the principal investigator.
Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
We ask that you have knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas:1) Protonic ceramic conductor R&D with preference on fundamental understanding of solid-state physics or defect chemistry as well as the electrochemical characterizations on materials properties.
2) Heterogeneous catalysis for light alkane activation (preferably methane conversion) with electrochemical background.
3) Electrocatalysis (high temperature system with heterogeneous catalysis skills, the expertise in CO2 hydrogenation and/or N2 reduction desired).
4) Protonic ceramic cell fabrication, and manufacturing (expertise with the conventional ceramic engineering, additive manufacturing, spray coating, 3D printing and extrusion is sought after).
5) Development and testing of single unit cell (5x5 cm2 and 10x10 cm2) and short stack.
Responsibilities Include:Have expertise in laboratory techniques such as Impedance Spectroscopy, Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, temperature programmed experiment, and Raman, etc.
