The successful candidate will work at the interface of soil process modeling, carbon cycling, and regenerative organic farming systems, contributing to projects that quantify soil health improvements and carbon-nitrogen dynamics under contrasting management systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to integrate field measurements, long-term datasets, and process-based models (DayCent, DNDC, or similar) to evaluate management-driven changes in soil carbon storage, nitrogen cycling, and greenhouse gas emissions. JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The laboratory of Associate Professor Joseph Cotruvo, Jr. in the Department of Chemistry at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill a postdoctoral research position focused on rare earth element biochemistry and technology development. Projects will involve development of novel approaches using biological ligands to recover, separate, and detect rare earth elements. Education and Experience The ideal postdoctoral candidate will have extensive experience in one or more of the following fields: f-element chemistry, protein biochemistry, bioinorganic spectroscopy, chemical biology and molecular biology methods, and chemical engineering. The applicant must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in an area broadly relevant to our research program by the time employment starts. The individual should be highly self-motivated and is expected to lead their own individual projects as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts. The Postdoctoral Scholar position involves working on NIMH-funded projects on positive valence systems function in offspring of mothers with histories of depression in collaboration with Dr. Autumn Kujawa at Vanderbilt University. Opportunities include gaining advanced training in multiple research methods (e.g., EEG/ERP, behavioral observations, ecological momentary assessment) with children, obtaining supervised clinical hours through diagnostic interviews and delivery of a positive affective prevention program, and writing manuscripts. The Postdoctoral Scholar will also receive support for travel for conference presentations and for writing mentored grant proposals. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Clinical or Developmental Psychology (or a related field, including Cognitive Psychology or Neuroscience) by the appointment date. This person's primary research will be focused on NIH-funded studies to develop prediction models for stroke using electronic health record data enriched with social determinants of health from multiple institutions. This position requires attention to detail and strong organizational and interpersonal as well as scientific writing skills. This position is scheduled to begin as soon as possible. Geographic proximity to Hershey Medical Center/Penn State College of Medicine is necessary for in-person activities (e.g. meetings/presentations); however, the position includes opportunities for hybrid work. JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Particle Astrophysics group at Penn State is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work with Prof. Stephanie Wissel on experimental searches for the highest energy neutrinos, multi-messenger, and particle astrophysics. Researchers in the Wissel Lab work on several experiments deployed around the world including in Antarctica, Greenland, and high elevation mountains. Experiments such as the Askaryan Radio Array (ARA) and the future radio component of IceCube-Gen2 at the South Pole and the Radio Neutrino Observatory in Greenland (RNO-G) search for EeV-scale neutrinos with antennas deployed in polar ice. Balloon-borne experiments like the Payload for Ultra-high-Energy Observations (PUEO) search for neutrino interactions in the ice and upgoing tau neutrinos from a high altitude. Researchers in the Wissel lab are also exploring novel concepts like the Beamforming Elevated Array for COsmic Neutrinos which searches for upgoing tau neutrinos from a high-elevation mountain. Previous experience in these experiments or related experiments is advantageous, but not required. The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research on RNO-G, which is under rapid expansion to cover a full 40 km^2. For RNO-G, the Penn State group is responsible for integration, testing, and validation of the data acquisitions systems and contributes to event filtering, both at the hardware and software level. As a part of the RNO-G team, they will contribute to searches for the highest energy neutrinos in the the data as well as instrument calibration and monitoring. The successful candidate may contribute to field deployment, installing and commissioning new stations for the experiment. The postdoctoral scholar will be embedded within the Particle Astrophysics group and the Center for Multi-Messenger Astrophysics (CMA) at the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos (IGC).
