Appointment Description

The College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is recruiting for a senior faculty member (Associate Professor or Professor rank) to establish a neurorehabilitation research program within the Department of Health Sciences & Research. We are especially focused on multisystem, whole person approaches to rehabilitation involving multidisciplinary teams capable of addressing issues faced by individuals across the spectrum of injury/disease (with and without disabilities). Accordingly, in addition to this senior leader, it is anticipated that we will add one or two additional junior or mid-career faculty hires, allowing the senior recruit to either bring researchers with them or lead the recruitment of synergistic faculty to facilitate their vision. Areas of interest that are synergistic with existing research programs at MUSC include cognitive and physical rehabilitation of aging related dysfunction, cognitive effects/benefits of exercise, neural control of movement, brain stimulation/neuromodulation, mindfulness and other rehabilitation approaches for improving brain and body function. Expertise in brain health, especially studying the overlapping neurocircuitry involved in neuroplasticity/neural recovery and aging/degeneration processes is considered a priority area of interest. We are looking for a researcher capable of developing a research program that will synergize with the exceptionally strong local environment in neurorehabilitation provided by two existing NIH-funded centers - the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence for Restoration of Neural-Based Function and the Neuro-PRECISE: Center for Advancing Precision Neural Circuit-Based Rehabilitation - amongst the total research funding of nearly $17.2 million received in fiscal year 2024 (ranked 11th nationally in NIH funding for Schools of Allied Health Professions). Additionally, in fall 2026 the College of Health Professions will open 15,000 sq. ft. of new research space, the Center for the Restoration of Neural-Based Function in the Real World (the RENEW Center), which was funded by a $7.9 million NIH construction grant. This state of the art space will offer spectacular neurorehabilitation research opportunities for the candidate and their research group. In addition, we have very strong existing collaborations with individuals and groups in the College of Medicine (COM) within a greater MUSC ecosystem that includes, among others, Neuroscience, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Cardiology, Oncology, Pathology and Public Health Sciences. Potential areas for collaboration include; cognitive assessments and interventions for individuals with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias; Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury and other conditions; neuroplasticity and brain health; post-acute care services and outcomes; neuropsychological, language/communication, behavioral and psychosocial function related to neural impairment; neuromodulation methods (TMS, tDCS, VNS); neuroimaging (fMRI, PET, EEG, diffusion, MRS, TMS-fMRI-EEG); neurodegeneration biomarkers; advanced statistical approaches (machine learning); and connectomes.

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a PhD and a strong background in pharmaceuticals across a variety of disease areas. The individual within this position will work with other members of the New Protein and Technology group, across the Global Protein Discovery department, and other cross-functional teams to develop and move projects forward using both internal and external resources that best suit the project in question.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations of proteins and opportunities both within Grifols' therapeutic areas of interest and also those that fall outside the company's primary therapeutic areas. This will involve a deep understanding of protein function and disease pathobiology, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge to the identification and development of novel therapies using those proteins.
The individual will be responsible for steering the direction of these projects, involving active participation in and leadership of the research design and execution of projects. Posting Details Vacancy Number PD-0028 Working Title The Counseling Center - Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow Position Number PD-0031 & PD-0032 Location of Workplace Main UNCW Campus Brief Summary of Work for this Position The Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellow develops a working knowledge of providing counseling services within a university counseling center and within a Student Affairs context while engaging in required levels of supervision, seminars and Center services.
Postdoctoral fellows will engage in activities including:
* Time-effective individual counseling
* Group counseling and psycho-educational workshops
* Program development and outreach programming
* Consultation regarding developmental and psychological/ emotional health issues
* Campus training (in conjunction with Counseling Center staff)
* Crisis intervention and after-hours on-call services
* A consultation project in an area of interest (consistent with Counseling Center needs)
Fellows are expected to engage in services for a diverse client base and diverse campus organizations. Respect for cultural, intellectual, psycho-social and interpersonal differences is expected to inform the Fellow's practice. In addition, depending on individual interests and Center needs, opportunities may also exist for additional administrative duties or structured experiences outside the Center to better understand the role and function of university psychologists within Student Affairs and the university community.
Fellows will receive training and supervision designed to prepare them for a broad range of roles within a university counseling center and professional psychology. The program is intended to provide the experience required for licensure in North Carolina and in most states (2000 hours). Fellows are encouraged to be attentive to the requirements of the Licensure Boards for the locales in which they plan to practice.
Postdoctoral fellows will receive a minimum of 2 hours of clinical supervision per week while engaging in training seminars, case conferences, on-call rotation (including some Holiday coverage), and other staff activities.
Appointment Description
This is an early career Fellowship experience. Applicants should have received their doctoral degree not more than 3 years prior to applying for the Fellowship.
While receiving training under supervision, the Post-doctoral Fellow:
* Provides general counseling including individual, relationship and group therapy and crisis intervention.
* Manages client caseload.
* Maintains appropriate clinical and administrative records.
* Conducts assessments related to at-risk crisis clients; assists with initiation of the mandatory hospitalization protocol in consultation with clinical supervisor, training coordinator, or other fully licensed colleagues and consulting psychiatrist, as available.
* Participates in the Counseling Center after hours and on-call rotation and Winter Break coverage.
* Develops and delivers proactive workshops and programs for student groups, faculty and university departments focusing on prevention, self-understanding, promoting healthy relationships, transitions, other student development areas and topics relevant to the campus community.
* Engages in a substantive consultation project informed by the needs of the Counseling Center and the incumbent's area(s) of interest/expertise.
* Provides professional development presentations for Center staff.

Research fellow job in Chapel Hill, NC
A post-doctoral position is available in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering Department, based at UNC Chapel Hill. This research position will lead research in advanced ultrasound imaging technologies. Potential projects include super-resolution imaging, functional neurological imaging, molecular imaging, and super-harmonic imaging. Candidates will lead projects, conduct research, mentor junior team members, and write manuscripts, present at conferences, and contribute to grant proposals.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Specific areas of knowledge which will be useful will include biomedical acoustics, physical acoustics, beamforming, ultrasound imaging, fabrication techniques, MATLAB , and preclinical studies. The ability to work as part of a team, to manage multiple projects, and to learn new skills quickly are all important to being successful in this position. Good communication skills and hands-on skills are essential.
