    About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Postdoctoral Research Fellow with skills and experience in natural products chemistry to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will have research experience in chemical compounds derived from natural sources, such as sugars, polysaccharides, flavors and fragrances, focusing on their structure determination and their applications in new forms of tobacco products. Responsibilities Prepare and analyze samples of various formulation types, including natural polymer material complex, to determine the flow and deformation of materials. Design and execute natural polymer crosslinking via reactive extrusion to improve material properties like shape stability and mechanical strength. Perform instrumental analysis (GC-MS, HPLC, LC-MS) to study flavor chemistry and molecular mechanisms. Evaluate flavor, create new flavor blends and make recommendations to satisfy project requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate and improve flavor and fragrance formulations based on sensory feedback and market trends. Maintain detailed records of formulations, tests, and evaluations to support product development and compliance with industry standards. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in tobacco sector. Adhere to laboratory protocols and safety programs of safe handling of chemicals and equipment. Qualifications Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, food Science or a related discipline with 0-2 years of relevant experience. Proven experience in natural products chemistry, flavor chemistry and formulation design. Knowledge of polymer material structure-property relationships and analytical characterization techniques (Rheometer, DSC, TGA, FTIR, NMR, particle size analyzer etc.). Competence with the use of modern spectroscopic methods to determine structure of organic compounds, including HPLC, GC, HPLC-MS. Experience in maintaining related instruments is highly preferred. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive and productive work culture.     The Forensic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System is offered through the Forensic Neuropsychiatry division of the Tulane Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The goal of the fellowship is to enhance and broaden the fellow's forensic assessment skills. Under supervision, fellows will conduct forensic evaluations at an inpatient forensic hospital (Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System - ELMHS) and in private cases. Fellows will perform a wide variety of forensic mental health assessments with forensic patients, incarcerated individuals, as well as those in the community. A wide range of evaluations are requested at the ELMHS forensic state hospital and include: competency to stand trial (CST) evaluations, evaluations for malingering, psychodiagnostic clarification, intellectual and cognitive evaluations, and violence risk evaluations. Evaluees are justice-involved individuals who have been adjudicated not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI) or deemed incompetent to stand trial by the court. Fellows will be responsible for selecting, administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological tests with the goal of writing high-quality integrated forensic reports. Additional forensic assessment opportunities are available through conducting private evaluations in person in the greater New Orleans area and as a remote evaluator. The scope of evaluation questions are broad and come from referrals from attorneys, courts, and medico-legal professionals. Typical forensic cases will encompass both criminal and civil areas, although the majority of referrals are for criminal evaluations. Referrals include competency to stand trial evaluations, violence risk assessments, mitigation/resentencing evaluations, and trauma and PTSD evaluations in both federal and state court. A large portion of case referrals are for criminal responsibility evaluations. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in administrative and clinical meetings, conduct forensic research, and when possible, supervise other trainees under the umbrella supervision of a licensed psychologist. Fellows will attend forensic training seminars and scheduled didactics, including landmark case seminars and expert witness seminars. The forensic fellow is responsible for leading the ACGME-required Forensic Journal Club/Research Seminar. Participation in the annual mock trial conducted jointly with the Tulane Law Clinic and the Tulane Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship is expected. Additionally, opportunities to observe a board-certified psychologist testify and receive supervision on report writing for court and discussion of expert witness skills is a frequent activity. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Completion of a Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in forensic psychology at an APA-accredited program by the start of the fellowship. * Completion of an APA-accredited internship with an emphasis on forensic psychology by the start of the fellowship. * Eligibility for state or provincial licensure or certification for the independent practice of psychology by the start of the fellowship. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY: 1. Ability and willingness to travel/commute when required. 7. Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work in high-stress situations. 8. Working knowledge of, and practice consistent with, the Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychologists and the APA's Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for Psychologists. 9. Ability to initiate and manage forensic research projects and perform empirical literature searches. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Fellows will be assigned to either 1) support the genomics research programs and consortia at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) as a federal contractor or 2) support a variety of projects at ASHG that advance genetics and genomics research through professional and public education, scientific communications, and/or public policy. Major Duties & Responsibilities Search, summarize, and analyze in detail scientific and programmatic information; use databases and spreadsheets to obtain and compile materials. Prepare and review tables, graphs, reports, presentation slides, and other materials. Organize, provide logistical support, and attend conference calls, scientific meetings, workshops, and other program activities. Prepare meeting agendas and minutes accurately; track action items and tasks; and ensure all aspects of the project are tracked and reported. Request information from and provide responses to program staff and/or principal investigators, and others on scientific and programmatic issues. Give regular progress reports to staff and stakeholders; maintain ongoing, proactive communication with key personnel. Coordinate updates of programmatic websites. Collaborate with other contractors and ASHG or NHGRI staff on existing projects and/or the development, initiation, and execution of new projects. Work with staff to assist and conduct management and administrative analyses; evaluate procedures, policies, processes, and systems to improve efficiency. Represent ASHG and/or NHGRI at local and national meetings; deliver presentations and posters; disseminate details of projects and collect information of value to project goals. We are seeking the support of four graduate students in any of these areas - education, development, public policy or international relations - who seek field work in Africa and possess practical implementation of data collection and/or survey methodologies.
